We are offering an ACA Level 3 Coastal Kayak and Level 4 Open Water Kayak Instructor Certification Workshop from Oct 15-18th at the Erie Islands. Current instructors can participate for an update that meets their certification maintenance requirements.

How big are those waves?

Here’s a rule-of-thumb for assessing wave height while on the water:

At 1ft, other kayaks will disappear up to the cockpit…

At 2ft, everything below the shoulders disappears behind the wave….

At 3ft, you’ll lose sight of other paddlers except for the very top of their heads…

At 4ft, the tips of the paddle will show during forward strokes, but not much else.

Over 5ft…. 😳

This week’s unsettled weather has put a damper on rentals. Matt is on a mission to change that.

The Lake has been flat all week, the powerboats have stayed in their slips, and the temperatures have been mild. In other words…it’s time to go paddling!
