Year 2000 - Nater learned to snowboard at Cascade Ski School. Year 2002 - Nater taught his first student to snowboard, his brother. Year 2007 - Nater gave up 12 years of playing basketball to pursue snowboarding as more than a hobby. Year 2008 - Nater joined the Husky Snowboard Team at the University of Washington, and began developing skills to train other advanced riders in the mountains. During 4 years on the team, Nater traveled the globe to ride mountains - his favorite was his time at Las Lenas, Argentina where be trained with some of the best snowboard trainers in the world. Year 2012 - Nater founded NY Snowboarding at nights and on weekends while working at Amazon.com corporate during the week as reason to leave the office and spend time in his happy place, the mountains. And because he saw a gap in the marketplace that existed for every level of snowboarder from beginner to advanced, regarding the ability to get personalized 1:1 time in the mountains with a experienced snowboarder who could speak whichever language they needed. Nater began working with individuals to explore the world of snowboarding beyond group lessons and groomed runs. Year 2014 - Nater began working with an 8-year old boy who had dreams of becoming a future professional and Olympic snowboarder. They work together to this day and in their first year of competing on the IFSA Freeride circuit for U12 snowboarding (2016), the young boy became the PNW Freeride Champion and the 2nd best U12 Freeride snowboarder in the USA. Nater coaches the young boy at their homebase of Alpental in the Snoqualmie Pass region in Washington state, though frequently travel together around the Great Pacific Northwest in the winter and frequent the Mount Hood glacier in Oregon state and Catedral Alta Patagonia in Bariloche, Argentina, South America in the summers. Year 2015 - Nater committed himself to snowboarding and arranged his entire life around it, while moving to a cabin on Mount Baker, the infamously understated and underrated birthplace of the snowboarders spirit. Year 2016 - Jan 29th Nater experienced a life-changing accident while riding near Mount Rainier at Crystal Mountain in the Cascade mountain range in Washington state. He broke 5 vertebrae in his spine and missed becoming a paraplegic by less than one inch. This experience humbled and inspired him to approach snowboarding and life differently after he spent the several months rehabilitating from his injury. Nater came out of the accident with the intention to use snowboard coaching as a platform to help others realize their intrinsic potential as capable beings to chase any dream or goal that their hearts and minds can conjure, on and off the mountain. Year 2017 - Nater moved to be closer to his loved ones in the Puget Sound after recovering from the accident to a cabin in the Snoqualmie Pass region where he can now access unlimited fresh powder out his front door. He is now in the process of creating a new Snowboarding company aimed at cultivating freeride snowboarders that carry and project the essence of freeriding onto the world, both on and off the mountain - that essence being that we are all free and capable creatures of making any dream (or dream-line) come true. Year # # - Nater is a professional entrepreneur that centers his life around snowboarding and the mountains, and is on a mission to guide adventurous souls through the mountains of earth via the means of a snowboard, and empower them to chase their dreams in the pow, and out of it.
