Saturday, the NWCA was at Manheim Township High School in Lancaster, PA. We launched our first 3D Showcase!
Coaching Development/3D Showcases: The key to sustaining new men’s and women’s intercollegiate teams is ensuring we have an ample amount of well-trained coaches and making it easier to connect the young college coaches (of the new programs) with critical masses of high school recruits. One of the biggest misconceptions of high school wrestlers, parents, and coaches is that a student wrestler has to be a state placer to be successful in college. We can give countless examples of student wrestlers who did not place at states and/or did not even make it to the state tournament and had fantastic college careers. Simply stated, there is a place for anyone to compete in college regardless of how much experience they might have.
With this in mind, the NWCA is launching a new initiative known as 3D Showcase Events to develop high school boys and girls wrestling coaches who are proficient at recruiting and retaining student wrestlers on their teams. In addition, we are hosting a showcase component labeled the Blue Chip Wrestling Prospect Camps to more easily connect high school wrestlers (boys and girls) with college coaches (regardless of their experience). The third prong of our approach is to develop proficient officials in response to the national shortage of officials. For more information regarding the dates and locations of the scheduled 3D Showcases, please click here. Please check this site regularly because we will be adding new locations and dates every month.
