Adopt a Rescue Horse This page will journal the progress of horses in training from "start" to "ready for adoption".

Each trainer will post photos, videos and information regarding the horses as they come along. Once "ready for adoption" the horse will be available per Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue's adoption policy.

We have some pretty nice horses in training at the moment.

This is Peppercorn, a 16 year old Pyramid Lake Paiute gelding standing at stocky 14.1 hands.

Peppercorn has been busy hitting the trails, taking in new sights, and building the confidence and skills to become an incredible trail partner.

Curious, willing, and always ready to learn, this pocket pony mustang continues to impress with every ride.

For more information or to schedule a visit to meet Peppercorn send us a DM or contact us at [email protected]

Twenty-plus years ago, a little wild mustang found his person... and together they changed each other's lives forever. ❤️🐴

Stories like this remind us why we do what we do.

Recently we received the most heartwarming update from one of our adopters, Ilse du Preez, who adopted a young mustang named Strider from our 2003 rescue through our trainer, Jill.

Ilse shared:

"He has been the best partner I could have ever asked for, and now my own children are riding him. Strider has been my rock through so many heartbreaks—my breast cancer and losing my mom. They truly do end up saving you."

She still remembers the day she first saw him. She had come to meet a different horse, but Strider was standing quietly in a round pen. We told her he was still green, but she knew instantly he was meant to be hers.

More than two decades later, Strider is thriving, in excellent health, and still the same gentle soul he has always been.

Today, Strider is helping create a new generation of memories as Ilse's own children ride the mustang who has carried her through life's greatest joys and deepest sorrows.

This is what adoption is all about. It's not just about saving a horse, it's about building a partnership that lasts a lifetime. Sometimes, the horse you rescue ends up rescuing you.

Thank you, Ilse, for giving Strider the loving forever home every mustang deserves and for sharing your beautiful story with us. Messages like yours mean more than words can express.

We can't wait for the day you come back to rescue another "tiny little mustang." ❤️

💙 Meet Cobalt 💙

This handsome 6-8 year old BLM gelding is the kind of horse everyone hopes to find—kind, brave, and incredibly smart. A natural problem solver with a willing attitude, Cobalt is always ready to learn and eager to be a true partner.

He’s recently started his under saddle training and is taking it all in stride, showing the same confidence and curiosity we love about him.

Cobalt will be available for adoption in the near future, so stay tuned—this special boy is one to watch! 🐴

It’s been a minute since I’ve got to enjoy working with a youngster as much as I do with this sassy yearling filly. From the first touch, to the first halter and walk around the ranch, I continue to be so impressed by how she carries herself, present and quietly confident.

Each day Cream Puff returns to her sessions mentally and emotionally stronger, more balanced, more poised, and ready to take on bigger challenges. We’ve been working hard to get her gentled and prepared for her upcoming hernia surgery, and she has been an absolute rock star every single step of the way.

She has just enough sassy attitude and strong opinions to keep you on your toes yet in the end, she always gives new things a try and puts fourth 💯 percent.

Here’s to having fun while learning something new every day… and to a smooth, successful hernia surgery💛
