Jon Shehan, who has served as Millersville University's baseball coach for the last 19 seasons, has accepted the role of associate head coach at Dallas Baptist University. Eli Nabholz, Millersville's pitching coach, has been named the program's interim head coach.

Shehan, a seven-time PSAC East Coach of the Year, inherited a 9-37 program and immediately turned its fortunes with a PSAC East title in 2008. He has since led the Marauders to extraordinary and sustained success. Shehan's Marauders won 11 PSAC East titles and four PSAC Tournament championships, including each of the last two. The program's streak of 13 consecutive NCAA Atlantic Regional appearances is the third longest in the nation, and he coached the Marauders to regional titles in 2011, 2016 and 2023.

"We can't thank Coach Shehan enough for his commitment, dedication, and leadership to our baseball program over the past 19 years," said Millersville Director of Athletics Kate Corcoran. "He will forever be linked to our success, both in his time as a player and as a coach. He has built a program that consistently achieves at a high level—on the field, in the classroom, and as a broader part of the University community. More importantly, the character, culture, and family atmosphere he built within that program was a highlight for the department. In this transition, we will look to build upon that foundation. We wish Jon, Lindsay and the boys the best as they move on to the next chapter of their journey but assure them that Millersville will always be home."

Shehan totaled a school record 680 wins and a .692 winning percentage, which ranks ninth among all active Division II head coaches and first among PSAC coaches. Shehan developed 21 of the program's 23 All-Americans, and 21 of his players signed professional contracts, including Tim Mayza and Chas McCormick, who both reached Major League Baseball and played in the World Series.

Beyond the unmatched success on the diamond, Shehan tirelessly propelled the program forward with facility improvements and memorable player experiences. He was the driving force behind the installation of turf and lights at Cooper Park as well as planned clubhouse renovations. Shehan's work behind the scenes helped Millersville become the first PSAC program with Trackman. Twice Shehan's teams opened seasons at the Houston Astros' Daikin Park.

Shehan, who played baseball at Millersville and earned two degrees from the University, has always been Millersville to the core. His grandfather, George Cole, attended Millersville. His father, Gerry, worked at Millersville for 34 years. Shehan and his wife, Lindsay, who was a Millersville cheerleader and cheer coach, met at the University. His "selfless and relentless" core values were lived out daily as a servant leader to Millersville's players and community. He now joins a Division I program that recently qualified for 11 consecutive NCAA regionals and has had 60 players drafted by MLB teams in the last decade. Dallas Baptist ranks eighth among all Division I programs in average wins over the last 10 years.

"Millersville is my home and always will be," said Shehan. "I grew up on campus eating at Gordinier Dining Hall with my dad and going to Coach Abromaitis' baseball camps. When Dr. (Richard) Frerichs promoted me to interim head coach in the summer of 2007, I never dreamed what the baseball program would become. My kids were born and grew up in our program. We've built life-long relationships with coaches, athletes, administrators, faculty, staff, athletic trainers, strength coaches and alumni. It's been a dream come true. This program is and always will be built on wonderful people—people who care about each other in ways that are impossible to describe. God truly gave Lindsay, Cole, Ben and I a gift. Leading young men at Millersville be a highlight for the rest of our lives. We've seen kids become men: NASA scientists, stealth bomber engineers, athletic directors, teachers, financial advisors, dentists, pastors and World Series champions. Seeing kids become great husbands, fathers and community leaders was the best part. I'll always love and cherish my time as a kid, student, and coach at Millersville. I want to thank Dr. Frerichs, Peg Kauffman, Miles Gallagher and Kate Corcoran for believing in me and supporting our program as administrators. I thank the athletic communications and Fellowship of Christian Athlete staffs. To all our assistant coaches, especially my right-hand man for 17 years, David Baker, thank you for making us better as a program and bettering me as a man and coach. Our family is both heartbroken about leaving our home and excited about the next chapter at Dallas Baptist University. God's plan is amazing, and we can't wait to see what he has in store for us next."

Nabholz, a 2019 Millersville grad who played under Shehan, takes on the role of interim head coach after serving as the pitching coach for the last two seasons. Nabholz has helped Millersville to back-to-back PSAC Championships while coaching a staff that ranked among the best in Division II. In 2025, the Marauders ranked 12th in the country in ERA and 25th in WHIP. The staff only improved in 2026, climbing to seventh in ERA, 14th in WHIP and 18th in strikeout-to-walk ratio. As a pitcher for the Marauders, Nabholz was a two-time PSAC East Pitcher of the Year and three-time All-Atlantic Region selection.

We know Dallas Baptist will become an even better program with the Shehan family involved! We will definitely miss them in the LS community but we are excited for coach Jon and family for this opportunity! We wish you nothing but the best and we will definitely be following along on your new journey.

The Lampeter Strasburg Highschool summer 17u team has officially qualified for the LNP tournament which is held at Penn Medicine Park. The tournament begins on Monday. Good luck guys!

Success Beyond the Diamond! 📚⚾

The 2026 Lampeter-Strasburg Baseball team proved that excellence isn't measured only by wins and championships—it's also earned in the classroom.

The Pioneers have been recognized with the 2026 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by the American Baseball Coaches Association. This prestigious national honor is awarded to programs that maintain a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher, and this year Lampeter-Strasburg was one of just over 320 high school baseball programs in the entire country to receive the award.

The recognition perfectly complements a remarkable season on the field. The Pioneers captured Section and District Championships while advancing to the PIAA State Quarterfinals, demonstrating that hard work, discipline, and commitment extend far beyond the baseball diamond.

Congratulations to our players, coaches, teachers, and families for building a program that represents what student-athletics is all about. We are proud of a team that continues to raise the standard—competing with excellence, leading with character, and succeeding both in the classroom and on the field.
