Last weekend produced an incredible flush rate of hens and a few roosters as well, on state lands. Flushing 25 hens this late in the season is a sign of healthy wild bird populations. A challenging and cold hunt that did bring a rooster to bag.

Michigan Pheasant Hunting Initiative are you openly admitting that you don't have $600,000 for purchasing pheasants? Were the projections wrong?
Thank goodness the state didn't take that one to the bank.
For folks bad at math, this equals about $120,000 and the number of licenses is about 25 percent of the pheasant hunters we had in Michigan just five years ago. Tell us again how this is helping hunting?

Michigan Pheasant Hunting Initiative, do you take joy in trying to co-op the folks actually doing R3 work into your welfare program?
There is sustainable habitat. Events like these create habitat-minded conservationists whose next step is pursuit of a wild pheasant.
Programs like this depend on the release of birds to create a safe, controlled situation for these young and first-time hunters in a controlled environment. They are carrying around tools that can kill people.
Quit acting like your program is about anything except free birds for old dudes.
To top it off, they then thank the farm (which is fine) but not the actual organization or event doing the work. š¤¦āāļø

We want to thank the Michigan Pheasant Hunting Initiative for effectively killing pheasant hunting in Michigan.
Before their welfare program, Michigan had approximately 20,000 pheasant hunters according to the DNR (this is noted in small game surveys). Now, we are slightly over 11,000 pheasant hunters and the number will just keep dropping.

The DNR included language on funding for the first time since the programās inception. Likely due to the fact that the folks behind the MPHI are asking people to inundate them with unnecessary phone calls and emails.

This pretty much sums up MPHIās whole sham. Mr. Jeff Ross (Weatherby Magnums) has been an ardent supporter and promoter of the program and has claimed to have utilized it. Is he lying?
And after being confronted on his mistruths, he then resorts to threats of physical violence.

MPHI wants you to ask the DNR how MPHI came up with their ludicrous $600,000.
Try on those mental gymnastics.
Newsflash: Those are made up numbers. We saved you the trouble, Matt.

Itās a wonder what the farm birdsā meeting would go like.
Surely they arenāt as organized.

More than 90% of pheasant hunters (Lower Peninsula, over the age of 17 & Public land hunters) are paying for about 17% of pheasant hunters to shoot farm birds.

If the MPHI had funds set aside for habitat, it would be possible to get matching grant money. Or it could go directly to the DNR and the restoration initiative. Unfortunately thatās not the case and the main reason for this page. Habitat always works.
