Our Rugby 101 series was a success!
It was so nice to see new faces join the team and see everyone encouraging each other regardless of skill level.
Rugby, by design, is such a welcoming environment. It is a sport first but community second. The sport gives lessons each individual player needs to learn. Whether it be communication, confidence, or teamwork. Each skill set is developed through countless drills, exhausting practices, and tough games.
The community aspect is also a fundamental part of this sport. They say you meet your lifelong friends through Rugby, if you allow it. The countless scrums we practice; sweaty faces pushed up against one another and that one person that somehow hasn’t figured out how to properly apply deodorant. The 3 v 2 drills where we have to trust that our teammates are with us in order to score. The times where you are sh*****ng for your life and your teammate sets the perfect ruck over you.
This community is built by each and everyone one of us intertwined with all our difference to come together to be apart of something special. Some people may be better suited for a forward position; Strong, steadfast, determined. While others thrive in the backs; Quick, agile, calculative. The point is no matter your body type, if you give it your all and contribute to the team you are an essential player.
Our team believes in inclusivity, we fiercely support our LGBTQ+ community. We strongly denounce anyone who doesn’t support our Trans brothers and sisters, our non-binary friends, our favorite g**s and le****ns, our bisexual baddies, local qu**rs, and our straight allies. It is that community who is what makes this Rugby community.
Rugby, at its core, is for everyone.
