When a child or family goes through a traumatic event, finding the right support can feel overwhelming. The National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) hosts an incredible, evidence-based repository of Trauma Intervention Fact Sheets designed to help families, educators, and clinicians find the exact right care.
These aren't one-size-fits-all solutions. The NCTSN details proven frameworks tailored to different ages and settings, including:
Family-Centered Care: Programs like Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and AF-CBT that focus on rebuilding the relationship and attachment between kids and caregivers.
School-Based Support: Interventions like Bounce Back (for elementary) and CBITS (for middle/high schoolers) that bring mental health resilience tools directly into the classroom.
Early Intervention: Brief, acute protocols like CFTSI to help families immediately following a traumatic event to reduce long-term symptoms.
Trauma changes a child's world, but the right intervention can help them author a story of resilience.
👉 Explore the full list of evidence-based interventions and find fact sheets on how they work:
Interventions
The Intervention Fact Sheets included on this page offer key information related to some of the interventions developed and used by members of the NCTSN. We encourage you to review the Overview page for more context and ideas on how to use these fact sheets.
