This week we say goodbye to two ladies who have made a lasting impact on our school and students 🥹

Oli, thank you for your passion, leadership, and commitment to LSCD and the Drill Co. You helped build not just a program but also strong and confident young dancers. Your energy and belief in the girls challenged them to grow and achieve big milestones. The impact you’ve had on our Drill Company program and the memories you’ve helped create will remain part of LSCD for years to come. I have absolutely loved collaborating with you in this endeavor and watching you do something you’re so passionate about🥹

Lizzy, thank you for being the welcoming face of LSCD. From answering countless questions and helping families navigate their schedules to keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes, you have helped me hold the fort down so I can focus on teaching and creating. Your kindness, patience, dedication, and willingness to help wherever needed never went unnoticed. You truly became the heart of our front desk, and we are so grateful for everything you have done for our students, families, and staff. Thank you for being my right hand for so many years and for being such a joy to work with 🥹

We are all so sad to see you both go, but we are incredibly thankful for the time and love you poured into LSCD🙏🏻

When dance dreams come true 🩵

To see my students be accepted into a university dance program and for them to want to share it with me is one of the most beautiful and rewarding things about being a dance teacher 🥹

I have so many pictures and videos of them giving me a college shirt, telling me they got accepted into their dream dance program, coming to see me one last time before they leave for college, and being able to see them graduate from college 🩵

A year that tested us, a year that brought so much uncertainty, a year that is a blur…but throughout all of it, we held onto each other and created things that we didn’t think were possible 💙

The year where this beautiful journey began 🥹

I opened LSCD because of my student, Ivana, and her family who believed in me 🩰 I would give her privates in her living room or any rentable gym spaces we could find. Small spaces were not suitable anymore for her big dreams nor my dreams for her 💫 She was so talented and needed more. Ivana would always beg me to open a studio and I consistently said no, until one day I decided to take the leap.

When LSCD opened its doors, I got the privilege to meet wonderful people and build long-lasting relationships. These are only a few pictures from our very first year but I have thousands of memories from 2011 🥹 You will see some of our founding members, our first LSCD excursion to watch a ballet documentary in Austin, me teaching, our first toddler class, and stills from our first showcase 🩵

A special year and a special group 🥹

Our Pre-Professional Performing Company became the first group from Laredo and the valley to qualify and be invited to the prestigious New York City Finals. We proudly represented the 🇺🇸 with two ensemble pieces.

10 days in NY with my babies doing what we love 💃

Took classes at Broadway Dance Center, at Steps, went to Central Park, watched Chicago and the Graham Company, and had many other adventures 💫

I'm reaching out on behalf of one of our cherished dance moms who is facing the fight of her life.

In 2024, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer, and she fought with all her strength.

Earlier this month, she suffered a series of seizures that led doctors to discover a grape-sized mass in her brain, followed by two to three additional masses. This has brought new challenges and uncertainty, but Monica remains determined to fight for her health and her family.

We are asking for prayers and any form of support you can offer to help ease some of the financial stress so that Monica can focus on healing. Your kindness and generosity will help her family cover rent, medical bills, groceries, car payment, medical and car insurance, and provide for her family during this difficult time.

SOFÍA VARGAS

Sofie has been at LSCD since her very first pre-ballet class at 6 years old🥹 A ballerina at heart, she obsessed about having the perfect tendu and lifting her chin always looking the part 🩰 Fast forward all these years, and she’s still that dancer that lifts her chin up and carries herself with pride, poise and elegance 💫

Sofie was a member of our Pre-Professional Performing Company for several years and a teacher these last two years at LSCD. She holds herself and everything she does to a high standard, and I love that about her. 🩷

You arrived at the studio as a tiny dancer with big dreams, and over the years I’ve had the privilege of watching you grow into a remarkable dancer and young woman 🥹 I hope you carry with you all the lessons you’ve learned through dance—the discipline to work hard, the courage to take risks, the resilience to overcome challenges, and the confidence to believe in yourself. 🫂

VALENTINA GONZÁLEZ

Vale has been with us for seven years 🥹 She came in wide-eyed and bright-eyed for a winter intensive and the rest was history. 💫 I’ve had the privilege of working with her and seeing her grow up year after year 🥹🩷

Vale was a member of our Pre-Professional Performing Company for several years and most recently a teaching assistant at LSCD. Whether she was training, performing on stage, or assisting in classes and helping guide our younger dancers, she always led by example with kindness, patience, and heart 🩷

Chase your dreams boldly, trust in yourself, and know that you are capable of accomplishing incredible things.💫 I’m so excited to watch all the amazing things that await you and to have you in a new role at LSCD🙌🏻
