Congratulations to Isabelle Smith newly crowned Shodan and her sensei Shihan Bruce Tulgan. Isabelle was tested at the 2026 Jiteki Jyuku Koshukai at Hanshi Ryan Dean’s dojo. Hard work pays off! Here she is with Hanshi Peggy Hess and myself. It was a great gathering for all.

Program Director and Head Instructor! Thank you Sensei Cushion for your hard work and dedication.
Today we wanted to give a special shout out to our amazing Ms. Cushion! She runs the school alongside Sensei Stone and does it with such pride and passion. She is the schools Program Director and Head Instructor and we couldn’t be more grateful for all that she does for both the school and the students here at NSKA! Her teaching allows the NSKA students to feel proud, challenged and confident all at once while learning their karete curriculm. When she isn’t teaching she is doing whatever the school needs and connecting with families!! She is one of a kind and we couldn’t be the school we are today without her!
