Another awesome weekend of bikes for Redwood Racing! On Saturday, our girls joined other female riders from various NorCal teams at the GRIT ride in Fairfax. And today the team worked on tech and skills on a gorgeous day at Tamarancho. Camaraderie, fun, growth, and fitness on two wheels in the dirt. That’s what’s it’s all about!

Over the past several years, the hashtag has really taken off, now with almost 60K posts on Instagram. This reflect a growing interest in women and girls in this amazing lifestyle of mountain biking. Through the GRIT program (girls riding together), our Norcal League has shown its commitment to grow the participation in mountain biking in female student athletes, striving for gender equity in our sport. Our team has seen the benefit of these trends, with by far the largest number of girls participating on our team this year. It helps that we have as one of our two head coaches, Petra Lindquist , who has been an advocate for girls and women in the sport for the past two decades, empowering female riders through her work in coaching and mentoring. Over this past weekend for race #2 at Six Sigma, Redwood Racing’s girl power was on full display! 4 girls on the podium helped carry our team to a second place overall finish. But even more impressive was their unwavering energy and mutual support these girls displayed. Their joy uplifted our entire Redwood family and this post is dedicated to them!

Glorious day at Exchequer Bike Park for race 1 of 2022. So good to be back to mass start racing! The riding was fun, the competition was fierce, and it was amazing to see some redwood rider podiums as well as a team 3rd place for the day. But more than the results, yesterday was all about the fun, good vibes, team spirit and camaraderie! Great kick off race—can’t wait for the next one!
