Happy Afro-Colombian Day 🇨🇴 It’s 2024 and sadly people STILL don’t know that Colombia has one of the largest Black populations in the world. So here are a few ways to immerse yourself in Afro-Colombian culture when you visit these cities: @medellin_travel: Turn up at The Black Joy Parade by @originandculture. They throw the parade periodically throughout the year so make sure to follow them for updates. The Black Joy Parade pays homage to a bunde. Bundes are a traditional street parties from Colombia’s Pacific coast during the saint patron festivals like San Pacho 🥁🎷 Cali: Attend the @petronioco. The biggest celebration of Afro-Colombian Pacific culture and music. You’ll hear music like currulao, chirimia, and so much more. It’s a free event held every year in August 💃🏾. THIS is the Colombian culture I grew up in 🥹 San Andres: I remember the first time I visited San Andres was when I was like 10 and for sure thought we were in Jamaica not Colombia lol. Many people don’t know much about Raizal culture but it’s def something you should learn more about and what better way than through their food @bushmanplace 🥘🌴 Cartagena: San Basilio de Palenque is truly a life changing experience!
