Here is a great exercise to help pitchers understand and FEEL the importance of their glove/front side.
I love this exercise because of the immediate feedback it provides.

Are you guys SICK & TIRED of relievers coming in and giving up some of your runs? Doesn’t it just make you irate to see your base runners score and crush your ERA?
Well, here’s a simple solution...
STOP WALKING hitters! All 3 batters that scored, reached base by a walk. Always attack the hitters & stop giving them too much credit.
Also to note: That makes 4 straight at-bats in which the defense never moved their feet. 4 batters came to plate, 4 runs scored, took 10+ minutes, and got 0 outs. Not the best way to keep your defense on their toes and engaged.
Footwork drill for catchers. ⚾️
Proper timing of the feet allows us, as a catcher, to have better alignment & direction to the base we want to throw to.
When replacing your feet, do not step negatively! Stay low to the ground. A negative first step throws our body off-line which makes it harder for any catcher to have a strong & accurate throw.

Enough with the gimmicks that don’t translate. Get with a coach that’s actually played the game. Get with a trainer that actually knows the mechanics and fundamentals. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel! Just put some air in that flat tire!
