With the colder weather comes the cold & flu season and more sick days than normal! Here are a few ways to help kids heal quickly when they get sick:
💥Let them sleep as long as their bodies need, kids might need 10+ hours of sleep to re-coop!
💥Get fresh air, sunshine, rest & allow the fever to pass.
💥Hydration is key, lots of water & teas can help things pass quickly.
💥Incorporate lots of veggies, bone broth, ginger, lemon, garlic & fermented foods into their meals.
💥Up their vitamin intake; C, D, & zinc!
💥See a doctor to get some meds if needed!

Unpopular opinion; restricting your children's access to sugar can hurt their health more than any sweets they can possibly eat this holiday season.
Restricting sweets and junk food can interfere with a kid's innate ability to self-regulate their intake & make it harder for them to listen and trust their bodies. Restricting sweets can lead to increased stress, shame, guilt & anxiety about junk food and lead to more damaging effects.
We like to remind our kids to make sure they're meeting their water and veggie goals in the RedRover App as they enjoy sweets this season!

Winter is coming which means for many of us the days are cold & the sunlight is limited!
The dark, cold days of winter can lead to an imbalance with physical activity. It’s essential to remain active to keep your body’s metabolism elevated and to decrease the risk of converting it to a storage body.
The recommended activity is at least 60 minutes of aerobic exercise per day — preferably in minimal intervals of twenty minutes. Here are a few ideas to keep kiddos active while staying warm this winter:
💥Go to an indoor facility like a bounce house center or a skating rink to keep moving.
💥Clean the house.. yes really! Turn on some music & make it a dance party!
💥Get moving during commercials! Dance, do jumping jacks, squats, sit ups, push ups, run in place, have a short pillow fight, play musical chairs/sofas until the program starts again.

Did you know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day?
It's so important to maintain a consistent morning routine for your children that always includes a balanced, nutrition filled breakfast.
Children who regularly consume breakfast are more likely to meet their nutritional needs. Breakfast also helps prevent obesity.
Having breakfast every single day helps regulate appetite, hormone levels and the calories we burn each day while also providing energy that impacts learning related factors!
When in doubt, go with a breakfast of protein that includes eggs or yogurt! What are your family's breakfast go-tos?

There are a number of ways you can get moving during the holiday season – all that matters is that you get your family participating! Believe it or not, but exercise actually helps your immune system. Moving daily will help you and your kids fight off illness and shorten healing times in the event that you do get sick.
