Lifting too fast and without intention.
Bootcampy workouts.
am I trashing those workouts absolutely not. I love how strong I got.
I did notice, though I had concerns with my body. My body did not like Burpee’s my body hated box jumps.
One time Christine and I did over 100 box jumps. I think we both did 110 -24 inch box jumps. I got really really sick after that I felt like it tanked my immune system and my cortisol spiked. I am very in tune to my body, and I noticed that HITT cardio gave me more trouble. But I continued to do it.
As a competitor we weren’t really looking at hormones. The trends and fitness were extreme.
So here are the new rules for perimenopause and menopause
1. Slow down. Lift with intention breathe properly and visualize your muscles growing. We are no longer lifting just to get it done. We are willing the muscles to grow. Muscle is the fountain of youth.
2. Slow down your cardio. In many people had cardio can spike your cortisol. I focus on steps now over massive amounts of HIGH INTENSITY CARDIO.
3. Structure your workouts to build muscle but listen to your body. Burpee‘s were too jarring for my body.
Box jumps were too jarring. I hated every minute of it.
When I was 20 all of these things were probably fine. Once I hit perimenopause the harder I worked the harder it was to get in shape.
My body was fighting it .
The approach now is HST hormone, smart training. My program is going to work with your body, not against it.
I’m starting a challenge in January but you can get going now and we can get you prepared for the holidays with all the new rules . We can elevate and reach our goals. We’re just using new strategies.
