“I don’t think you even know what the rules are most of the time.”
That’s what my husband said when I asked if I’m a rule follower.
And I couldn’t stop laughing—because, well... he’s kind of right. 😂
But here’s the deeper truth:
I don’t follow rules just because they exist.
I follow what makes sense. What aligns.
I need to understand the why behind expectations—and if they don’t feel true to me, I might find a more authentic way forward.
In my latest article, I share this moment, along with a powerful story from one of my coaching clients.
She had been carrying a belief for years that she wasn’t a “good leader”—all based on a moment in her past where speaking up got her labeled as “disruptive.”
That story shaped how she showed up… until she finally questioned it.
And everything changed.
Here’s the thing: We all carry these stories—about what it means to be good, credible, successful, or even enough.
And those stories? They’re not always true.
In this piece, I unpack what happens when we start redefining the meanings we attach to words, expectations, and even ourselves.

🔹 When Does Accountability Cross the Line? 🔹
Something happened recently that left me shocked and deeply curious.
At a school sports meeting, a coach stood in front of over 100 parents and students and said:
"I know when students cheat."
Then she locked eyes with me and said, "Yes, your kid."
😳 My mouth literally dropped open. I turned to look at my son, who whispered, "We’ll talk about it later." He was clearly embarrassed.
And honestly? So was I.
It left me with so many questions. A few were:
💭 Why call out a student publicly?
💭 What impact does that have on trust and motivation?
💭 What would have been a better way to handle the situation?
As a coach, I work with leaders every day, and I know accountability is critical—but how we address tough conversations matters just as much as the conversations themselves.
Publicly calling someone out might seem like leadership… but does it actually inspire growth?
💡 Great leaders, teachers, and managers do this instead:
✔ Lead with curiosity before assumption.
✔ Address concerns privately when possible.
✔ Balance high standards with psychological safety.
What do you think?
🎯 Have you ever experienced something like this?
🎯 How do you handle accountability while keeping trust intact?
Drop your thoughts in the comments—I’d love to hear your perspective. ⬇️

Ever wonder why some team members just don’t click, no matter how hard you try to bring them on board?
Here’s a surprising stat: 62% of people aren’t naturally designed to work in teams. It’s not about personality conflicts or effort—it’s about how they’re wired.
Some people thrive when they can work independently, innovate solo, or take ownership of a project. But in a team setting, their brilliance can fade. And that’s not their fault!
This is one of the reasons we created Your Aura at Work—a fresh approach to Human Design in the workplace. It’s all about understanding each person’s unique talents and aligning environments for success.
I wrote about this in more detail on LinkedIn. Check it out here: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7266901888699117568/?actorCompanyId=87182506
