My choreography. My story. My groundbreaking approach to filmmaking. Together, they established a benchmark in martial arts cinema that, in my view, remains unsurpassed.
My life story reached the screen before Bruce Lee’s life story was brought to cinema. That achievement should have been the beginning of a legacy—not the catalyst for a lifetime of misrepresentation, professional pigeonholing, and efforts to define me through a narrative I was rarely given a fair opportunity to challenge.
Those who control the narrative can control public perception—but they cannot rewrite what happened or erase what the work itself demonstrates.
I was denied the opportunity to confront my accusers on equal ground, while others were allowed to shape the story about me. That says something about the process they relied upon. My work, my contributions, and my performance on film speak for themselves.
No amount of envy, hostility, or opportunism can substitute for firsthand experience, original contribution, or authenticity. There will always be pretenders hoping to ride the fame train someone else helped build. But claiming a legacy and creating one are two entirely different things.
The noise belongs to those who need to discredit the man. The work belongs to history.
