Your metabolism is slow after 35 because you’re losing muscle.

These are the 3 lifts that fix it.

1. Squat: biggest muscle groups in your body. More muscle activated means more calories burned at rest. Every single day.

2. Deadlift: people over 35 avoid this one. Don’t. Your body works hard to recover from this lift. That recovery is your metabolism running.

3. Row: the upper body pull most people skip entirely. Build muscle everywhere and your metabolism responds to all of it.

Squat. Deadlift. Row. 4 hours a week.

If chicken breast is the only protein source you know you’re making this harder than it needs to be.

5 sources I actually use:

Egg whites — 6 egg whites is 20 grams. 3 minutes.

Greek yogurt — 1 cup is 15 to 20 grams. Zero cooking.

Ground turkey — faster than chicken, hits the same numbers.

Lean beef — high protein and one of the best iron sources you can eat. Especially important for women over 35.

Shrimp — 20 grams per 3 oz. 5 minutes flat.

Variety keeps you consistent. Consistency gets you results.

10 years of coaching nutrition plans. Here’s what I actually want to say.

“Work has been crazy.” The meal plan doesn’t require a free schedule. But go on.

“I went off track this weekend.” 3 weekends in a row. But this one was definitely different. Sure.

“We had a family thing and I couldn’t control what was there.” Chicken exists at family events. I’ve checked.

“I’ll get back on it Monday.” 4 Mondays in a row. But sure. Monday.

Every single client who got a real result showed up when they didn’t feel like it.

Ans every person still starting over on Monday, didn’t.

Not harsh. Just what 10 years of data looks like.

You’re eating clean. You’re training. The scale hasn’t moved in weeks.

Here’s what’s actually happening and why it doesn’t mean you’re failing.

3 reasons the scale is lying to you right now:

1️⃣ Body recomposition: you’re building muscle and losing fat at the same time. My client lost only 6 lbs in 3 months. But his body recomposition was insane. Six pounds doesn’t capture that. The mirror does.

2️⃣ Water retention: stress, sodium, and intense training cause your body to hold water. You can lose fat and weigh more the next morning. That’s not a setback. That’s your body doing what it’s supposed to do.

3️⃣ Hidden calories: a bite off your kid’s plate, a handful of nuts, a coffee you didn’t track. That’s 300–500 extra calories a day you’re not seeing. Add it up.

The scale is one data point. Not the whole picture.
