Football players,
We are going to hold the 4th annual Women's Hall of Fame game on 12/5/20 in Las Vegas. The game will kick off at noon at Sunrise Mountain HS in Vegas. This will remain an East vs West clash with the Mississippi River as the dividing line for who plays on the East and who plays on the West. The cost for the event is $300 and includes a personalize uniform. As usual, the West will be considered the "home" team and will use the west sidelines for practices and the game. A new class of inductees into the Women's Hall of Fame will be inducted at Friday night dinner feting their accomplishments, and all players attending the event are invited to attend.
WHO CAN PLAY?
Any player 18 years of age or older, from any team, in any league, is eligible to participate IF that player competed for a tackle football team in '18, '19, rostered with a team for ’20, OR if any player played in one of the 3 previous HoF games. So, plainly stated, if someone was eligible and played in either of the 2 previous years of competition, then you can play in this game. Players must provide proof of medical insurance, sign a waiver, and pay their fees in accordance within the set schedule.
COVID ISSUES
We are guessing that Covid-19 related issues will have passed but our crystal ball is no better than yours. The payment timetable, see below, consists of 2 due dates. The first covers the cost of uniforms, the second covers the game and HoF dinner. Once the uniforms have been ordered, that $150 is gone. If Covid cancels the game, we will send you your uniform but NO REFUNDS of that $150 will be remitted. If you have paid the second $150, or if you just paid the full $300 and the game is cancelled after the uniforms are ordered, you will get your uniform and $150. Obviously, it is best if all payments are conducted via VENMO (see below for account details) but it is up to the Admin to set the best form of payment. Our goal is hosting this game, induct a new class of Hall-of-Famers and to have a great time but with this Covid issue, you can never be 100% positive. We feel very confident about it nonetheless.
GAME RULES
We will play four, 15-minute quarters, using NCAA rules. The only exceptions at this point are kickoffs will be from the 40-yard line. Each team can use any football that was allowed in any women's tackle football league AND can change it out with each QB used!
HOW ARE TEAMS SELECTED
Coaching staffs for both teams have been selected and they will choose their teams, again, using the Mississippi river as the geographical divide. In years past, holes have been filled with players across that divide so that both rosters are similar in size. We are shooting for 55 players per side so that we can cover the "fixed costs" of the game and dinner. As those who have previously played can attest, the emphasis of the game is that EVERY player gets meaningful playing time. We have been very successful on this ideal with the West having played 9 QBs in the 3 previous games, as an example. Both coaching staffs are aware of this goal.
PRACTICE TIMES
Due to longer travel times, the East gets to start their first practice at the later time, see below. Since we are using the same field, back-to-back, the oncoming team must remain in the parking area until 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time. At 15 minutes prior, they can go to their corresponding sideline (East uses the east sideline and West uses the west), get dressed and prepare to take the field. The departing team must finish their practice on time, get off the practice surface, and if they need to discuss things, they can do so by gathering in the endzone area, as the other team warms up. The West will gather in the south endzone and the East can gather in the north endzone. Once the oncoming team is done with their team stretch, the other team must leave the endzone, gazebo and parking areas to reconvene elsewhere if necessary. We are simply trying to keep this game fun and not one wherein the emphasis includes "spying" on your opponent.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
An application will be added to the Hall of Fame page and everyone that wishes to participate must fill out this survey. This method helps the admin collect pertinent information and expedites the process for the coaches to fill out their respective rosters. You must fill out this survey to completion to be considered for the event.
HOW DO I PAY? ALL THINGS REFUND
This game is not designed for anyone to earn a penny. In the first two years, we lost a significant amount of money. Last year, we broke even. To put on this event, a few folks spend an inordinate amount of time on it. So, please keep this in mind as you sign up as we cannot be more transparent that we already are. If this is NOT for you, don’t sign up.
The preferred method of payment via venmo or cashapp. Both methods are easily tracked by both parties and do not charge either user fees. If you currently do not have one of these methods of payment, please arrange to have one or the other available by the payment due dates. No late payments will be accepted, and you will be removed from the roster so that another player can take your place.
YOUR QUESTIONS
We have learned in these past 3 years that despite what we send out, post, text or talk about, roughly 25% of the players didn’t get the message. Therefore, each side will operate with Head Coach and General Manager. If you have a question, direct them to your folks and if you managed to bring up something new, that is not known by your HC/GM, they will forward it to us and we will inform them of the policy and they will communicate it to you.
LIFE HAPPENS STUFF
Each year something happens in someone's life that affects their ability to play. We get that. So, after much consideration and gnashing of teeth, we came up with our refund policy. So you can understand our point of view, to put on this game, we are facing "fixed costs". Those are costs that do not fluctuate with participation numbers. So, when you apply, we have not allowed someone else to play so not only does that person not get to play, but with fixed costs we still have to pay the bills. So, please re-read the above section and understand your financial commitment. If the needs to your team require moving someone from MLB to OT, that is not a reason for a refund.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that Covid passes as expected and that we can induct a phenomenal new class of Hall of Famers, have a great game and that no significant injuries occur.
Sincerely,
Women’s Football Hall of Fame
