What does self care mean? 🧖🏼‍♀️⁣

Lots of times, people’s version of self care include getting their nails done, trying out some new bath bombs, getting some lash extensions, buying new clothes/shoes, etc.💅🏼⁣

And sometimes self-care derives from something DEEPER⁣

🙅🏻‍♀️Self care could also look like eliminating those negative people from your life that are bringing you and your dreams down ⁣

☀️It could also look like taking a day to yourself to do things you enjoy, like going on a walk with your dog or taking yourself out for a lunch and movie date ⁣

💃🏻Maybe it could look like doing something you’re uncomfortable with BECAUSE you know it’ll get you to a better version of yourself ⁣

🏋🏻‍♀️Sometimes it could even be as simple as taking care of your physical and mental well-being by going to the gym. Maybe you even need to be kept accountable so you need a trainer. And you REACH OUT for help because you understand that. ⁣

And maybe it could even be getting your nails, hair, lashes done; getting in a nice warm tub; soaking up this beautiful sun; or laying in your comfortable bed and watching some Netflix 📺⁣

Whatever it may be, do it. ⁣
We all need to regenerate. We all need to refresh and reset. 🧖🏼‍♀️⁣

“Don’t trade your authenticity for approval. Either you support my dreams or you don’t. But if I listen to everyone saying I’d be nothing, I’d truly be nothing” ⁣

Raise your hand if you’ve ever tried to fit in with the cool kids, be a part of that clique, or mold to how everyone perceives you ⁣

🙋🏻‍♀️Yep me too (especially in HS, ‘nomsayin)⁣

Questions like these surfaced: ⁣
> “Oh she’s trying to start her business?”⁣
> “Why did she give up her steady job at Morgan Stanley to do this?” ⁣
> “She has no experience whatsoever”⁣
> “Why is she writing these long captions?”⁣
> “Does she even know what she is talking about?”⁣

In fact I felt that I lost my authenticity a few weeks back because I was OBSESSED with how everyone else thought of me. ⁣

Then I received so much love from everyone who took the time to read my posts and send me a message that they resonated with my captions. ⁣

So massive shoutout to all your beautiful humans who continue to support my dreams. ⁣

Thank you from the bottom of my heart 💓 ⁣

If you are someone who lurks around my profile, watches my stories, relates to my captions, and constantly has the nudge to reach out, this message is for YOU‼️⁣

I know a part of you is scared.⁣

You might be scared of taking the first step, the jump, the leap.⁣
That’s always the scariest.⁣

You might be scared of reaching out because you don’t trust yourself to get the results you desire.⁣

You might even be telling yourself while you’re scrolling that you’ll reach out later on, ⏰when the time is right, when the stresses of work and life decrease⬇️, etc.⁣

As a coach, I’m here to break those limiting beliefs. So let’s me shatter those together:⁣
> You are in a different mindset now than when you were when you originally said you’d reach out later⁣
> There will never be a perfect time. The last perfect time was 5 years ago. The next perfect time is NOW.⁣
> The stresses of work and life will always be there, it is how you manage and handle the situations⁣

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to reach out, THIS is it. Send me a DM and we can map out how to reach your goals ⚡️ ⁣

Top 3️⃣ things that investing in ourselves, especially coaches, can do for us⁣

I have invested THOUSANDS of dollars into myself and I plan to invest more. ⁣

🙊Scary to think right? Yeah even for me. ⁣
But I still plan on investing more into coaching because I FULLY believe in it (Yes coaches even have coaches!) ⁣

Investing in myself was really scary to me because I thought, “Well what if it doesn’t work for me?” ⁣
But like you’ve heard me say before - Nothing changes if nothing changes ⁣

If we want to change and grow, we need to have ACTIONABLE items to act upon ⁣

Here are 3 main reasons why investing in ourselves can be helpful in the long run:⁣

💸Saves money ⁣
But you’d think the complete opposite right?! ⁣
Let’s put it in perspective: Do you know how much you have spent on those detox teas? ⁣
What about those meal plans that you fall off once the plan has finished? ⁣
I sure as heck bought into constantly using supplements that gave me NO results because my diet wasn’t in check. ⁣
If only I had hired a coach at the beginning, not only would I have saved my sanity of constantly spinning my wheels, but also sooooo much money ⁣

⌚️Saves time ⁣
At the beginning of my fitness journey, I was so confused on what exercises to do on what day, so I would just go on YouTube, click the description, and screenshot the workout. Anyone else?! 🙋🏻‍♀️⁣
So I would end up doing my exercises as I go, whatever I felt like doing that day, and basically DIY’ing my workouts. ⁣
It took YEARS for me to develop a balance, but I know it would have taken me much shorter had I invested sooner! ⁣

🏋🏻‍♀️Increases our drive ⁣
We STRIVE to do better when we have someone to keep us ACCOUNTABLE for our actions. I know for a fact I went on for a long time going on a program, then off, never fully finishing the program itself. ⁣
There is more motivation and discipline to stick with the program - It’s human nature! ⁣

‼️Did you know: A lack of sleep could cause Alzheimer’s disease⁣

Our bodies have the lymphatic system, in which its main function is to rid the body of toxins, waste, unwanted materials, etc. ⁣
Well our brains have something similar- It is called the glymphatic system. The glymphatic system is a waste clearance system for our central nervous system (CNS). ⁣

🧠Our brain must enter the state in which we are able to rid these toxic materials, which is why every living being on this planet sleeps. ⁣

If we aren’t well-rested and are sleep deprived, a study shows that we are more likely to have an increase in the protein associated with Alzheimer’s called 💊beta-amyloid. This protein negatively impacts the communication between neurons. ⁣

In Alzheimer’s disease, the more beta-amyloid there is, the more it will continue to build up and create plaque. Which is why if we do not continue to get adequate amount of sleep, this protein will build up and our glymphatic system in our brains will not be able to dispose of this harmful protein, leading to the plaque build-up. ⁣

-Read more about this in: https://www.nih.gov/news-events/lack-sleep-may-be-linked-risk-factor-alzheimers-disease⁣

💤Not only does a lack of sleep negatively affect your mood, weight gain, etc. BUT it could actually lead to the increased chances of developing Alzheimer’s. ⁣

As I’m taking this time to grow my business, I also use this time to grow my knowledge base so that I can help you on a higher level than simply exercise training. The more you know, right?! ⚡️⁣

Always striving to improve every single day. Pull ups make me feel so strong and powerful and I love throwing a few reps in at the end of my workouts. ⁣

Been seeing major improvements on my rep count + I have NEVER seen my back 😱🙏🏼 ⁣

Drop it down below + what you’re doing everyday to improve yourself! ⤵️ ⁣

Gain weight or shed fat - Which should you do first? 🐣⁣

A lot of people ALWAYS ask me this, and it makes sense, especially during this time of year when summer is approaching and we want to be “bikini bod ready” (whatever that means 😑) ⁣

If you are new in your fitness journey, you probably are not eating enough to begin with🍌🥬🥒⁣

💭Think about it:⁣

✖️If you are eating 1200 cals/day and you want to lose weight, do you realize how LOW your calories need to go to lose the weight? ⁣
Abnormally low to the point where it is unhealthy and your metabolism would get (even more) ruined ⁣

VS ⁣

✔️If you are maintaining at 2500+ cals/day, you have ROOM to manipulate the calories without messing up your metabolism, feeling so restricted that you end up bingeing, etc. ⁣

You have to EAT in a caloric surplus to build y’all. ⁣

⤵️What state did you start in when you first begun your fitness journey?

⚡️BENEFITS OF SUMO DEADLIFTS⁣⁣
⁣⁣
💥I definitely prefer sumo deadlifts over conventional. I have shorter arms, so when I’m attempting to conventional deadlift, I find that I need to “squat” lower to reach the bar. ⁣⁣
With sumo, the ROM has decreased because of the wider foot position.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
💥Additionally, the sumo deadlift decreases lumbar stress (this is also from the wider foot position). There is more of a vertical angle of the back (in turn, making the torso more upright), making it so that the lower back doesn’t pack on as much stress in comparison to conventional. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Though I prefer sumo, I definitely work on my conventional form as well. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Work with what you got - If you feel more comfortable doing sumo, then perform a sumo deadlift. ⁣⁣
If you find it easier performing a conventional deadlift, then that would be the movement you would perform. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🎉Now that the education piece is over, I AM SO HAPPY THAT I COULD FINALLY PUT 185 BACK ON THE BAR. After injuring my back a few months ago and having to rehab/massage the area, I can happy to say that my form has become MUCH stronger (no more rounding compared to before) AND there is no pain when performing this movement (eeeek!) ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Thanks to for telling me 24 Hour has superior equipment (especially oly pads). I fully believe that your environment really dictate your lifts. Being in 24 felt like being back in Wooden and I felt so ignited. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Workin’ my way back up to the 2-hundo club
