And the award for understatement of the year goes to.....
I think we all can agree that 2020 was not an ideal year. Global pandemic, economic tailspin, civil unrest, and election controversy just to name a few of the crazy things that happened in a year that many of us would love to forget.
But with 2021 here, let's not subscribe to the thought that "2020 won." 2020 won if you didn't come out of it better. 2020 won if you got knocked down and made the choice to stay down.
Part of playing the game is accepting the fact that you won't always win. No matter how famous you are, how talented you are, or the size of your bank account, losses will come. But the greats will always bounce back from these losses. So as we go into this year, remember that setbacks can be setups for greater victories in the future. Have an amazing day y'all!!

Just had a great breakfast after completing a 36-hour fast. I started my fast a 9:30pm on Sunday and it was honestly a test. I didn't eat as much as I should have prior to starting my fast and I definitely felt the difference. At the halfway point I was just about ready to quit, but I endured. Once I made it to 24 hours, it was a cake walk. Call me crazy, but I refuse to tell a client to do something without testing it out myself first.
Lesson learned: make sure you eat a good meal prior to your fast, preferably with lots of fiber, proteins, and some good healthy fats.

In my quest to bring my clients the best results, for the past few weeks I've been experimenting with intermittent fasting. One day out of the week I do a 24-hour fast where I take in absolutely ZERO calories and I consume nothing other than water and black coffee. I've also tried training in my fasting window to see how my body reacts to not having food to use as fuel. I'm pretty excited with the results I've seen and can't wait to share this with you all. Stay tuned!!

What does the time 3:45am mean to you?
To me, it means beating the alarm by 15 minutes and doing it without complaint.
It means getting up that much earlier than you need to because you want it that much more than everyone else.
It means knowing that all the hard work you are about to do may only move the needle a hair, but still going after it like your life depends on it....
....because truth be told, it very well does.
There's no expiration date stamped on your forehead like a gallon of milk. You don't know when it's happening, but one day you'll draw your last breath. What are you doing with that time? Are you moving the needle or are you a dead man walking? It's your life, your choice!!!

Finished this book just before Thanksgiving and decided that I would start intermittent fasting after my birthday weekend. Started my fast on Monday and I feel amazing! The biggest hurdle was getting used to black coffee. Keep checking in to see how I'm progressing!

Good morning y'all! I gotta testify!!
If you've been watching closely, I've been doing things a little differently. I've been taking some time away from work and spending it more with friends, family, and loved ones. I've been making it a point to get out of the gym clothes more often. During this time I've even found my way back to Christ. And that is where I had an epiphany.
We had an amazing church service on Christmas Eve. Towards the end of service everyone had candles in hand. Each person lit the person's candle next to him/ her using their own candle. This got me thinking about something....
I spent so much of my energy dealing with gossip and negativity. I spent so much of my effort on trying to be everyone's friend, only to feel stabbed in the back. And I've spent so much of my time doing things for others who have no real appreciation for my sacrifices. What has it gotten me, besides grief, heartache, and emptiness?
Lighting someone else's candle needs not come at the expense of extinguishing your own flame. Invest energy, effort, time, emotions, and money in things that give you a positive outcome. The real ones will love you for it!

It's been a while, but this was on my heart. I hope this helps someone make the choice to protect their energy as it has helped me to do the same.....
If your mama is like mine, she probably once said these words to you, "Everyone isn't your friend". Mom, I understand this more than ever now.
In the past year I've had people claim to be my friend, and for one reason or another, that friendship is no more. And after getting over the disappointment of losing what I thought was something great, I've realized that size doesn't always equate to value.
As you look to 2020, take inventory of your circle, the people whom you spend the majority of your time with. Do these people add to or take away? Do they leave you feeling energized or drained? Don't carry that dead weight with you into the New Year. It may sound mean, but you're doing yourself and them a favor. Help them and yourself have the growth season you both deserve!!

Motivation Monday:
New week, only 44 days until 2020! But don't wait until then to work on those new goals. It takes time to develop the habits you'll need to accomplish those goals, so why not start now! Take one step, pick one behavior, do one thing. Don't let today go to waste!
