This is primarily a cycling blog about my adventures as a bike commuter, ride reports from events I enter, and also about bikes, gear, news, and general info related to cycling, but it's also much more. Beyond simple cycling, I also promote alternative energy sources, off grid resources, self-sustainability options, and other "green" lifestyle choices designed to reduce ecological destruction and

"Lead researcher Dr Claire Steves said: 'When it came to cognitive ageing, leg strength was the strongest factor that had an impact in our study. Other factors such as heart health were also important, but the link with leg strength remained even after we accounted for these. We think leg strength is a marker of the kind of physical activity that is good for your brain.'
Alzheimer's Society director of research Dr. Doug Brown said the findings added to the growing evidence that physical activity could help look after the brain as well as the body."

In "What Happened In Vegas," director Ram Denison exposed some of the many cover-ups and corruption of the LVMPD and the "powers that be" in Las Vegas. His follow-up documentary, "Money Machine," continues along that path while shining a light on the Las Vegas Mass Shooting carried out by Stephen Paddock on 1 October during the 2017 Route 91 Harvest Festival.
Using live footage taken from cell phones, bodycams, and surveillance cameras, as well as eyewitness accounts of victims, it starts out showing, up close and personal, the chaos that happened that night. Then it progresses through the aftermath revealing the rush to close the book on this chapter of Las Vegas' history and return to a semblance of normal on the Las Vegas Strip in order to "keep the cash registers ringing."
Along the way, the incomplete and oftentimes intentionally deceptive methods of investigation used by Las Vegas police to hide their own incompetence and carelessness, as well as that of the casinos and hotel security, that allowed it to happen are clearly illustrated. For those familiar with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, it is a scenario that has been witnessed all too often in this city writ large, with tragic and still unresolved consequences this time around.
"Money Machine" is currently available for streaming via Theatrical-At-Home here:

"His original goal was to see how many years he and his dad could make the commute to school and back without using a car. Then, he realized his 1,000-day mark was coming up, so despite schools being closed, Bodhi continued to ride to his school and then turn around and ride back home in order to achieve the milestone, which he hit on March 31."

"Up until the invention of the modern 'safety' bicycle in 1887, few women rode the high wheel bicycles of the previous generation. But in the 1890s, a 'cycling craze' offered a new kind of mobility to many young women.
Bikes facilitated unchaperoned dates—even elopements. Just as troubling to some moralists of the day, cycling women often wore bloomers, widely seen as indecent, that were much like men’s pants. The Women’s Rescue League of Boston even claimed that, following the closing of brothels, prostitutes were riding bikes to reach their clients."
