Happy Mother’s Day to the legendary women behind rodeo’s legendary families.
In the rodeo world, great cowboys are rarely built alone. Behind the gold buckles, world titles, and long miles down the highway are mothers whose strength helped shape generations of champions.
The Cooper Davis and Cooper family legacy is one of the most respected names in rodeo history, and at the heart of that legacy stands Sherry Cervi — one of the greatest barrel racers of all time.
A four-time WPRA World Champion and National Cowgirl Hall of Fame inductee, Sherry Cervi became a rodeo icon through years of dominance in barrel racing. But beyond the championships and arena lights, she also became one of the women helping carry forward a rodeo dynasty through family, mentorship, and cowboy values passed from one generation to the next.
And in the Cooper family, women like Tiffany McGhan continue that tradition — supporting the lifestyle, the travel, the sacrifices, and the dreams that come with rodeo life.
From raising cowboys on the road…
to cheering behind the chutes…
to holding families together through victories, injuries, and years away from home…
Rodeo mothers are the quiet foundation behind so many legendary stories.
Today we celebrate them.
Happy Mother’s Day to every rodeo mom whose love helped build champions.

Before the world started talking about the Wright family… there was Spencer Wright.
The first one to carry the name to the top.
Raised under the guidance of 2-time World Champion Cody Wright, Spencer didn’t just grow up around rodeo — he lived it. Early mornings, long drives, and countless rides before the lights ever got bright.
Then came 2014.
Under the pressure of the biggest stage, he delivered — earning the World Championship and putting the Wright name back on top of the sport.
But not long after, something rare happened.
His younger brothers — Ryder Wright, Rusty Wright, and Stetson Wright — began to rise.
Win after win. Title after title.
The spotlight shifted.
And just like that, Spencer went from being the one to chase… to the one watching the next generation take over.
“I never needed the spotlight… I just wanted to ride the best I could.”
And that’s exactly what he kept doing.
No noise. No excuses.
Just steady, consistent rides — the kind that don’t always make headlines, but build something bigger than trophies.
Because every dynasty needs a beginning.
And for the Wrights…
It started with him.

Rocker Steiner set the tone in San Antonio in the ba****ck riding in Bracket 1, stacking $7,431, $3,000 more than any of his competitors.
He was at least 85 points on all three of his horses and won the last two rounds of the bracket with rides of 85.5 and 87.5 points.
Cooper Cooke, Kade Sonnier, and Gavin French were the remaining ba****ck riders who moved on.

Stetson Wright just became the second $4 million man in the history of our sport, and is now second only to King Trevor. All four boys in blue have now advanced to the Fort Worth Semifinals, but out of four different brackets. I could think of no better cowboy commentary on all of this than the family’s World Champion herd sire Cody Wright. So I called him.
Trevor Brazile won more than $7 million in his iconic 26-gold-buckle career. By clearing $4 million, Stetson is now second only to Trevor. In case you’re curious, Tuf Cooper, Cody Ohl, Kaycee Feild, Sage Kimzey, Fred Whitfield, Clay Tryan, Joe Beaver and Billy Etbauer are currently third through 10th on the all-time earnings list.
“It’s an awesome deal to be ranked up there with that guy,” said proud patriarch Cody Wright, who won world saddle bronc riding championships in 2008 and 2010, and was inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in 2023. “I can’t even start to brag on Trevor (who was inducted in 2022) for all he got done.
“It also says so much about how far rodeo’s come, because Stetson’s only 26. He made it there faster, because there’s so much more money to win now. The money’s better and the horses are better across the board, which gives more guys a chance to win. We all want earnings records to be broken every year, because that’s progress in our sport.”
All four of Cody and ShaRee’s sons just rode their way out of their brackets at Fort Worth—Statler out of Bracket 3, Rusty out of Bracket 4, Ryder out of Bracket 5 and Stetson out of Bracket 6. Why scatter this all-for-one-all-the-time herd? Gamesmanship and common sense. You know, divide and conquer.
“All the big winter rodeos will be like that,” Cody explained. “When they only take so many out of each set (two plus a wild card from each bracket at Fort Worth, for example), we’ll split ’em up. Entering four guys knowing only two will make it out of there wouldn’t be smart.”
Stetson and Ryder have been traveling together, and Statler’s been in the truck with Uncle Spencer (who’s one of Cody’s six brothers, who also include Calvin, Alex, Jake, Jesse and Stuart). Rusty’s traveling with his breakaway roper wife, Haley.
Might this be the year four of the Top 15 bronc riders in the world are brothers?
“Five is actually my hope, because my brother Spencer’s been going and riding good, too,” Cody said. “But yes, it’d be super special to see all four of our sons rooting for each other from behind the chutes at the NFR, rather than from the stands. If they stay healthy, I sure think they’re all capable of being there.
“It’s good to see Rusty back out there riding good and winning. He’s been kind of plagued with injuries, but he’s very talented and he’s got a great style. If you’d tried to tell me a few years ago that he was going to be the last one to win the world, I’d have told you you were full of sh*t.”
P.S. Look out for little sister Lily, too. She’s just a junior in high school, but in the words of dear old dad, “She’s bound and determined to be the best, and she’s as competitive as any of her brothers to be right honest with you.”

Ky Hamilton & Stetson Wright: Two names continue to stand at the forefront of today’s rodeo world — Ky Hamilton and Stetson Wright — each proving excellence in very different but equally powerful ways.
Stetson Wright has once again reminded everyone why he is considered one of the greatest cowboys of his generation. After battling serious injuries, Stetson returned to top form at the most demanding level of competition. His recent performances reaffirmed his dominance as an all-around competitor, combining elite bull riding with saddle bronc riding at the highest stage. With multiple world titles already to his name, Stetson’s latest success adds to a legacy built on toughness, versatility, and an unbreakable will to win. Every ride reflects not just talent, but generations of rodeo tradition carried forward.
On the other side stands Ky Hamilton, the embodiment of consistency and precision in modern bull riding. Recently, Ky has continued to rank among the very best in the world, delivering high-scoring rides against the rankest bulls in the draw. His calm demeanor, flawless fundamentals, and ability to stay focused under pressure have kept him near the top of the standings. Hamilton’s recent results reinforce his reputation as one of the most reliable and technically sound bull riders competing today.

The Steiner Family — Three Generations of Rodeo Champions!
When it comes to multi-generational rodeo dynasties, few families can match the Steiners. Beyond Rocker Steiner, the family has produced world-class competitors across several disciplines, making their name legendary in the sport.
Bobby Steiner – Grandfather and PRCA World Champion bull rider (1973), the foundation of the family’s rodeo tradition.
Sid Steiner – Father and PRCA World Champion steer wrestler (2002), known for both skill and showmanship in the arena.
Jamie Steiner – Mother, who qualified for the NFR in barrel racing in 2000, showing the family’s versatility in rodeo.
Steely Steiner – Sister and accomplished barrel racer, carrying on her mother’s legacy in professional rodeos.
Rocker Steiner – Son and the rising star of the family, 2025 PRCA World Champion Ba****ck Rider, continuing the Steiner dynasty at the top of the sport.
The Steiners’ achievements are remarkable not only for their individual titles but for the range of disciplines they have mastered — from bull riding and ba****ck to steer wrestling and barrel racing. Their dedication, skill, and family values have inspired generations of rodeo fans.
Three generations, multiple world titles, and a legacy that keeps growing — the Steiner family embodies everything great about rodeo.

The 2025 season proved to be a defining year for Ky Hamilton, reaffirming his place among the elite bull riders in the world.
Hamilton’s biggest statement came at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, where he delivered multiple qualified rides against the sport’s best bulls. By the end of the Finals, he finished second in the world bull riding standings and also claimed second in the NFR average, an achievement that speaks volumes about his ability to perform under pressure on the biggest stage in rodeo.
Earlier in the year, Ky also captured a major victory at the Cinch Playoffs: The Governor’s Cup, covering all four bulls over the weekend and walking away with one of the largest paydays of his 2025 season. Wins like that not only boosted his earnings but reinforced his reputation as one of the most reliable riders when it matters most.
As for 2026, there are no signs of him slowing down. With the new PRCA season already underway, Hamilton is widely expected to return with the same goal he has chased every year: a gold buckle. After coming up just short in 2025, the hunger remains — and the experience gained last season may be exactly what fuels his next championship run.
Ky Hamilton doesn’t just leave 2025 with results. He leaves with belief, momentum, and unfinished business heading into 2026.
