MCI Racing PORSCH – REXY – SKELETON DECALS, Custom colored to replace white with brushed metal red (looks more pink)

I wanted to do a Skeleton Rexy however I don't like painting black bodies as I don't race with them, too hard to see on track. So, I 'borrowed' from Bushi Rexy in making the skeleton red (pink) on inverse color scheme, so a white background.
This meant is was super simple with only one real color to lay down. I laid out the back to mimic a street 934 RSR and overlay-ed the Rexy on that.

MCI only let me choose 1/28 so the decals are a smidge to small for my liking and I had to do some surgery on the decals to adapt to the 934. I prefer 1/27 personally. I had wanted to do this livery on the 911 GT3 however sadly, I don't actually have any of those in my backlog bin.
I would caution, don't get the brushed metal finish unless you know you don't have to touch anything. It looks great and the down side is, it scratches if you so much as look at it sideways. I made any number of mistakes simply handling it. I was very thankful when I got the clear coat on it making handling it less concerning.

Overall, love how it turned out, it's different and I love it for that. I'm not crazy about the hood 'skull' look and if or when I do another, it will look more like the Bushi Rexy MCI doesn't have that livery yet though.

Yes, I did the wheel as well, chrome deep dish with gold spokes. Turned out great, just didn't want to fuss with taking wheels and tires off the photo chassis base so I left the stock wheels on.

I have a couple more Skeleton versions on my creative inspiration board. None of which are straight black/White. I may do one of those in the future but I enjoy putting my own twist on things. Any suggestions for good color pairings?

I've been running an XJR autoscale for awhile now, while I was working on some back log projects and with those completed, jumped back to the XJR to make a team body. For this one, I choose Orange as the primary color and was familiar with the Blaze Zaku and jumped in. It was NOT easy finding two tones of Orange. I like the Huqvarna as a bold color but not in the same way that Popsicle Orange is. The lighter shade took a couple weeks to find. It wasn't my first choice but it was the closest thing to my target color that was available in store near me. So Peach it is. I have to be honest, when I got done with laying down Peach, I almost walked away from it. It's a touch lighter tone than I has hoping for but I stuck it out and kept telling myself, just finishes it and maybe it will come together at the end. Now that it's one, I like it a lot more than I initially did and glad I completed it. If I were to make another, I would choose a different color and not Peach. I also completely forgot to add a splash of Red other than the door handles.

With this one done, I need to take a break and knock out my back log of Gunpla that need decals applied. I kid you not, it's at least 8 deep. Some of them have so many it's just too easy to keep putting them off.

Next Gundam camo car may be a black, white, grey color pattern. Not sure what that bod would be at the moment. Any suggestions?

This one was a request from a local racer. They wanted specific colors with a camo pattern and left the rest up to me. I ran with the greens for the camo and used orange and black to accent various body lines.

I'm sticking with my Gundam theme for my own personal cars for awhile however I'm not making all the the same. I'm creating camo patterns based on a characters model colors. For this one, I bought an MF-1, being the latest and greatest thing to hit the market and decided to go with a Rick Dom Purple color way. In general, the camo pattern is mostly the same on all of them, as I pattern the next off the last. They are all hand drawn out and cut so no two are identical but the general ratio of colors is the same except for any specific trims. For this one, The Rick Dom has a distinct red trim on the head and translated that to a ring around the front glass. Most of these have Char's unit symbols so I carry that forward on all of them at this point.
Taping over swooping curvy surfaces is not easy nor fun but I think it turned out well. Next question will be, what do I use it on? I have an RX28 with KISS front end, if that fits.

This was an opportunity to get creative with local racer request for specific graphics but left the livery look entirely up to me. I happened to start this one week of July 4th and decided to go with a custom Red, White and Blue color scheme for stylized Hankook stripes. Apologies for the relative silence over the last week. I was focused on finishing up some local racer projects, both painting, ordering decals and planning stages for others, options for visually impaired racing and some other graphic stuff for local racing before taking a week off from, well, most everything. The past 8 months or so have been pretty heavy, in almost all regards. I try my best to keep my work, hobbies and life separated to some extent but some times you just need a break. The misses and I packed some bags and headed off to Barbados for a week. Amongst the many things we’ve done while on the island, we visited Animal Flower Cave and it was an appropriate metaphor for life experience that didn’t hit me till I sat down and soaked it in. In life, like most things, you can often get lost in the dark and just need to find that light at the end of the tunnel and forge on. I promise, the analogy works on multiple levels, including Mini-Z racing. For most of us, folks like me included, it’s doesn’t come easy. With some patience, determination and supportive community, it remains one of my favorite hobbies after 26 years of RC.

I’ll be back for racing this weekend and ready to go! Sadly I’ll be flying during the US World Cup match. I’ve watched more football in the last week than the last couple years.

Reminder, we are racing at Hobby Works this Saturday! Solidifying some class rules that will be shared with our local partner at Columbia Mach 5 Mini Raceway. We will be talking more about that in the coming weeks. Sharing some graphics I’ve been working on, works in progress. Hobby Works will focus on small track experience, Columbia Mach 5 will handle the mid size track experience and don’t forget, IAM-RC Hobby Shop continues their summer series on large track racing! Our classes will be very similar if not the same as what your used to at IAM-RC. Locally and regionally, there are unique track experiences for everyone!

This is my first XJR I've painted and a local racer request to pair with their Macross 720S, https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1AvjMMayYA/

the white stripe as a bit of a challenge to adapt on this body, it doesn't have the natural lines the 720S has that match so well. I look forward to painting many more of these!

I painted the wheels to match but they are such a pain to pop on and off a dummy chassis. Apologies for the wonky camera angle, makes the rear wing look crooked.
