I’m Shannan — coach, Active Life Professional, and former nurse.
I became an Active Life Professional because I kept seeing capable, active people lose trust in their bodies especially with age.
And I’ve been there.
I’ve been told I would never run again.
I’ve navigated injuries and that quiet fear that maybe I’d have to give up the things I love.
Pain makes you hesitate.
It makes every decision feel loaded.
It makes you wonder if you’re helping yourself — or making things worse.
As a former nurse, I know the answers don’t live neatly inside the healthcare system.
And as a coach, I know they don’t live in generic workouts either.
I care about helping people understand their body again —
so strength training, endurance, and recovery actually make sense for the season they’re in.
I believe everyone deserves the physical freedom to live a full, adventurous life — well into older age.
I’m here for the long game.
For bodies that can adapt, not just survive.
For staying active without constantly negotiating with pain.
If you still want to train, explore, and say yes to adventure —but you want to do it with clarity instead of fear —this is the work I do.

Self-neglect isn’t noble.
Running on empty isn’t a virtue.
And constantly putting yourself last doesn’t make you a better partner, parent, friend, or professional.
It just leaves you depleted.
Exhausted.
And slowly shrinking your world.
Healthy selfishness looks like:
• Protecting your training time
• Fueling your body instead of under-eating
• Choosing recovery instead of squeezing in “one more thing”
• Saying no when you don’t have the capacity
• Putting your health on the priority list instead of the leftovers list
This isn’t indulgence.
It’s responsibility.
It’s what allows you to show up with for those you love.
The people in your life benefit when you’re operating from strength, not survival.

Spoiler Alert: You need both strength and cardio.
If you want a long, capable life, this is non-negotiable.
VO₂ max (your cardiovascular fitness) is the #1 predictor of how long you’ll live.
Let that sink in.
You can’t cheat your way to longevity.
You have to earn it one breath, one rep, one decision at a time.
That’s lever #1: build your engine.
Lever #2?
Build muscle.
Because muscle is what keeps you moving, reacting, and living life on your terms.
Without it, everything slows down: your balance, coordination, confidence, and independence.
The people who stay strong stay engaged.
The ones who don’t fade out early.
So, here’s your game plan:
Train your heart for endurance.
Train your body for strength.
Live a life that doesn’t shrink with age.
Live more. Hurt less. Without compromise.

You’ve completed physical therapy and been told to “ease back into it.”
Your trainer says “we’ll just work around it.”
And months later….you’re right back where you started.
That’s The Pain Cycle.
It feels like progress….until it isn’t.
Here’s what actually happens:
You rest → it feels better → you move again → it flares up → repeat.
Each time it happens your body gets more cautious and your world gets a little smaller.
Breaking that cycle isn’t about doing less….it’s about doing the right things in the right order. That’s what I teach as an Active Life Professional.
You don’t need to avoid movement.
You need to rebuild capacity so your body can handle it again.

You’re not a project. You’re a person.
You’ve been to the PTs. You’ve been given handouts. You’ve heard, “You’re fine, just rest,” or “It’s all in your head.”
It’s no wonder you’re frustrated.
Here’s the truth: You don’t need to be fixed. You need a coach who listens, teaches, and builds a plan with you — not for you.
The result isn’t just relief. It’s long-term resolution.

Our clients aren’t chasing weight loss challenges or 30-day transformations.
They’re chasing something bigger….freedom.
Freedom to hike that trail they’ve dreamed about.
Freedom to keep saying “yes” to races, rides, and adventures.
Freedom to know that age doesn’t mean giving up the things that light them up.
Every win we celebrate here goes far beyond sets and reps. It’s about reminding you that you’re still strong, still capable, and your best stories aren’t behind you.
That’s what we mean when we say: Live More. Hurt Less.

It’s not the wrinkles—it’s the worry that your body can’t keep up.
It’s easy to focus on the lines in the mirror or the grays coming in, and hey—there’s nothing wrong with wanting to look good as you age.
But the real fear?
It’s not about looks.
It’s about limitations.
When a simple task like carrying groceries leaves you sore for days, or when you say “no” to something fun because you’re unsure how your body will handle it—that shakes your confidence far more than any crow’s feet ever could.
And that fear? It makes life feel smaller.
The remedy isn’t denial.
It’s strength.
It’s movement.
It’s learning what your body can do—and rebuilding what it’s forgotten.
Because confidence doesn’t come from avoiding the pain.
It comes from knowing you’re capable of moving through it.
Want to feel younger?
Start by feeling stronger.

Comfort is easy, but it keeps you stuck where you are.
If you’re tired of feeling the same pain, living with the same limitations, it’s time to challenge yourself.
Challenge isn’t about doing something extreme. It’s about stepping up and being a little better than yesterday.
That’s how you reclaim your life.
That’s how you get stronger.
That’s how you get back to doing the things you love.

It doesn't matter how GOOD your rehab program is...
if you're only sleeping 6 hours a night.
Fundamentals first:
Sleep
Diet
Stress
Everything else is secondary, including the program.
Take care of the fundamentals first.
Neglecting to do so will severely compromise your results.
Taking the fundamentals seriously, on the other hand, will supercharge your results.
They may not be sexy or novel, but they work. They’re the closest thing we have to the fountain of youth.
