It’s hard to put into words what this journey has meant to me. Coaching softball wasn’t just a job or a hobby—it was a huge part of my life for over a decade. It was about the early mornings, the late nights, the hauling of gear, and all the moments in between that nobody ever sees. It was about watching a group of kids grow into young women—seeing them push through challenges, learn, fail, succeed, and become leaders on and off the field.
Yesterday, I coached my last game. Not because I wanted to be done, but because life changes, and sometimes the right thing is to be present for your own family’s next chapter. With my oldest in her senior year of college ball, and my youngest hanging up her cleats and stepping into her own senior year, I realized that these moments are precious, and I didn’t want to miss them.
To the players—past and present—thank you for trusting me, for letting me be tough on you, for letting me push you, and for teaching me so much in return. Watching your growth, your leadership, and the incredible young people you’ve become is something I’ll always be proud of. I hope that I impacted each and every one of you in a positive way—even a small one—because you all made a huge difference in mine.
Thank you to the parents, the other coaches, and everyone who supported us through the wins, losses, and everything in between. I’ll always cherish these memories—the laughs, the huddles, the road trips, and the feeling of being part of something bigger than myself.
And to my wife, Dana—being a coach’s wife isn’t easy. Thank you for supporting me every step of the way.
And a big thanks to Paula for always capturing the big moments since we started—our personal team photographer. The moments are truly priceless.
Hanging up my coaching shoes isn’t easy, but I know it’s time. I’ll always be your coach, and I’m always just a call or text away if you need anything—on or off the field. Thank you, softball, for the chance to make a difference, and for all the life lessons you taught me.
