Training deceleration with the college crew!
With the use of VALD Performance lasers, we are able to establish an effort baseline while approaching our obstacle. This helps athletes keep the intensity up and challenge their ability to decelerate instead of simply sprinting slower towards the obstacle.
After a few successful decelerations, we move the box in about a yard. Rinse and repeat!
Athlete Spotlight: Brooke
So proud of Brooke! Fresh off of playing in the Women’s College World Series, she brought that same drive and work ethic to our collegiate program this summer! (With the help of the occasional 7Brew)
Wishing her the best of luck in her 2nd season Alabama Softball!
Athlete Spotlight: kendall_lynch15
Another one of our collegiate athletes wrapped up an amazing summer here at TGS! Kendall got thrown into a million different roles during her first season at the University of the Ozarks and came into this summer hoping to build off of her end of season performance. Excited to see Kendall take another step forward this season in the outfield and at the dish! Best of luck!
Athlete Spotlight: TO
As our college program comes to an end we just wanted to highlight all of the hard work that Tristan has put in this summer coming off of an injury. Tristan showed up every day and worked his tail off and we couldn’t be more proud of him. Excited to see him bounce back this fall!
The hitter who thinks the most isn’t the best hitter.
Most guys step in the box and start running a checklist.
Stay back. Hands inside. Don’t pull off.
By the time the pitch leaves the hand, they’re already behind both mentally and physically.
Here’s the truth: your brain is too slow for a 90mph fastball.
You have roughly 400 milliseconds from release to contact. Conscious thought takes 300+ to process and execute. The math doesn’t work.
The hitters who rake aren’t the ones thinking harder. They’re the ones who’ve trained enough to stop thinking altogether.
See ball. Attack ball.

Perfectionism isn’t a high standard. It’s a trap.
Research shows higher perfectionism in athletes is linked to increased burnout, heightened anxiety, lower self-esteem, and worse performance. Not better.
The worst part? Athletes caught in it still feel like their performance isn’t good enough after achieving excellent results. The standard keeps moving. Satisfaction never comes.
High standards push you to prepare. Perfectionism punishes you for being human.
Know the difference.
When was the last time you competed free of expectations?
