🚴♂️🏛️ The Revolution is Riding Through Clinton Township!🚴♂️🏛️
On Saturday, June 13, over 400 cyclists will pedal through Clinton Township as part of the 2026 Revolutionary Ramble — a scenic ride through the very roads where American history was made!
This year's theme, "Ride the Revolution: Pedaling Through History. Honoring Our Heroes," celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Revolutionary War and traces the paths of the Continental Army through the Somerset Hills and Hunterdon County.
📍 Where the Ride Passes Through:
Riders on the 100-mile route will pass right through our historic corridors, including:
🌉 The North Branch Bridge — The historic bridge over the Raritan River, a vital crossing point for centuries.
🏗️ The Neshanic Station Truss Bridge — A stunning 1896 Lenticular Truss Bridge listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Neshanic Station Historic District.
📜 Old Clinton Road Historic District — One of the oldest roadways in the region, dating back to the 1700s.
📏 The Amwell Line (1704) — Surveyed by Colonel John Reading, this line extended from the Delaware River to the South Branch and served as the northern border of Amwell Township. Queen Anne of England herself referenced it in 1708!
🏘️ Mountainville Historic District — Added to the National Register in 1993 for its significance in architecture, commerce, and community development.
🌾 Taylor's Mill (c. 1760) — One of the last surviving pre-Revolutionary grist mills, built by Colonel John Taylor, who served in the 4th Hunterdon Militia during the Revolution.
🏠 Creek House (c. 1700) — Originally part of New Jersey's largest dairy farm, this enchanting stone residence along the Rockaway Creek is also reported to have been a stop on the Underground Railroad. In the 1920s, IBM Chairman Thomas J. Watson hosted President Herbert Hoover here for trout fishing!
👋 Come Out and Cheer!
We'd love to see Clinton Township residents along the route! Here's how you can participate:
✅ Wave and cheer as riders pass by — a friendly "Great job!" goes a long way! ✅ Set up a lawn chair along Old Clinton Road or near the Neshanic Station area and make some noise! ✅ Let's show these riders the same spirit of community that has defined Clinton Township for over 300 years! 🇺🇸
📅 Date: Saturday, June 13, 2026
📍Routes: 25, 35, 50, 70, 100 miles + 40-mile Gravel
