Ladies and Gentlemen - I present to you the 2020 Army JROTC National Champions! The last 16 Army teams finished competing at Camp Perry (Ohio) today so our two-day score of 4,320 edged out 2nd place Ozark High School from Missouri by 17 points. To give you an idea of the enormity of this achievement, there are over 1,700 Army JROTC programs across the United States! Congratulations to the team!
In the rifle team's 11 year history, this is the 5th time the team has earned the title of Army JROTC National Champions! The other victorious years were 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2019. Congratulations to our past team members!
Our next major challenge is March 17-22 at Cmp Perry where we will face off against the best teams from all JROTC services. The top 3 Navy and Marine Corps schools present a huge challenge because they have been beating us by an average of 100 points over the course of a two-day match. They are going to beat the crap out of us unless we up our game. We have one month to prepare so be ready to train hard, take the gloves off, and get a KO at Camp Perry! Unless we have full commitment and 100% effort, we will have no chance against these teams. I am not being negative. Rather, I am painting a crystal clear picture of what we are up against. It is up to us to get ready for this challenge. Go Army!

Ladies and Gentlemen - I love the smell of victory! After two days of fierce competition, the Lebanon High School Rifle Team came from behind to take first place at the Army JROTC Service Championships in Chandler, Arizona, beating out 34 teams from across the nation! The links below each photo will take you to the results page. The team's 2-day score of 4,320 bested 2nd place Ozark High School from Missouri by 17 points. Sixteen Army teams will compete next weekend at Camp Perry, Ohio. After these teams compete, if Lebanon is still on top, we will be the Army JROTC National Champions!

Team members received beautiful gold medals and the team was presented with a trophy and will also receive a new Daisy Model 599 Air Rifle. Carmella Martinez and Kate Slingluff made the final, finishing in 7th and 8th place respectively.

The team will travel to Camp Perry in March for the JROTC All Service Championship where they will face off against the best JROTC teams from all services.

Day one of the Army JROTC Service Championships in Chandler, Arizona, ended with our team in 3rd place, 20 points out of the lead. Although the kids shot well, others shot a bit better. We did have some big fat 10s though! Day two we come out with the gloves off!

Nine members of the Lebanon High School Army JROTC Rifle Team traveled to Fort Benning, Georgia, from 21-26 January for the U.S. Army Junior Air Rifle Championship. When the dust settled after three days of grueling competition, the team took 2nd place in the Nation! Next, five members of the team will travel to Chandler, Arizona, from 4-9 February for the Army JROTC Service Championships. Go Warriors!

The JROTC Rifle Team faced off against 16 Oregon and Washington schools over the weekend at La Pine High school, taking 1st and 2nd place in the team category. Dylan Adams took 1st place in the Open Class with a score of 524, outperforming 42 other first-year shooters. Aliya Griffiths medaled in the Marksman class, taking 3rdplace. In the sharpshooter class, Dustin Howland topped the pack while Kacy Trebes took 6th place. In the Expert class Carmella Martinez, Zoe Geoghegan, Heaven Buchanan and Jacob Greve finished in 2ndthrough 5th place respectively. And in the Master Class Kate Slingluff, Kyler Boyce, Derek Best, Hailey Clevenger and Jonathan Smith dominated the field and took the first 5 places. The team’s next major competition is at Medical Lake, Washington on the 14th of December. For this competition, our plaques go to Aliya Griffiths (Giggles) and Dylan Gonzales (Adams). Great job Warriors!

Select members of the LHS Rifle Team were very fortunate to work with Olympic Athlete Dan Lowe this past weekend. The kids on the team learned a bunch and so did the coaches. We will be sharing the knowledge with the rest of the team this Thursday and Friday as we re-calibrate our training approach and plan for the year. I love the smell of VICTORY in the morning!
