Dusty Dogs Leave Victorious After Challenging Back-And-Forth Game Against Williamstown
Our Minors team and Williamstown traded the lead back-and-forth on Saturday, but eventually those Dusty Dogs prevailed 12-7 at Lee Bank. The game was tied at seven in the bottom of the fourth when Shane K singled, scoring one run.
Brody W collected three hits in three at bats in the win. Brody W doubled in the third inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the fourth inning.
A walk put Williamstown on the board in the top of the first.
WSG took the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the first thanks to singles by Brody W, and Everton E.
Williamstown took the lead, 4-3, in the top of the third thanks to a couple of singles.
In the bottom of the third inning, WSG went back into the lead after Brody W doubled down the left field line, Oliver L walked, and Everton walked, each scoring one run.
Williamstown jumped back into the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Patrick B walked, Theo B walked, and Andre C walked, each scoring one run.
Once again WSG took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Tobey T singled, Shane singled to left field, and Brody singled to left field, each scoring one run.
Oliver earned the win for our Dusty Dogs. The starter allowed zero hits and one run over two innings, striking out six and walking five. Hunter B led things off on the hill for Williamstown. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and six runs (five earned) over two innings, striking out six and walking seven. Brody collected the save. Bayard E appeared in relief for WSG.
Brody W and Tobey T each collected three hits. Everton and Brody W each drove in three runs. Oliver L led WSG with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 14 walks for the game. William K and Oliver L each stole multiple bases, with WSG running wild on the base paths, accumulating eight stolen bases for the game.
WSG Minors are now 1-1 on the season!
