HUGE congratulations to Ivan 👏 for earning his gray belt this week at SquareOneJJ!!!!

Ivan started training with us at age 12 in our youth Jiu Jitsu program, and it didn’t take long before he was jumping into both youth and adult classes. Today, he’s one of our youth assistant coaches, and training in the adult program. His determination, fighting spirit and willingness to show up for his team are the reason he is such a shining example of the hard work, focus and dedication we emphasize here, at SOJA!

Keep up the great work young man, all promotions at Square One are earned, not given… you have a bright future ahead of you and we are all so proud of how far you’ve come! 🙌🥹🥰

Today we celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the day the United States became an independent nation 🇺🇸 but for us at SOJA, we are also celebrating something else exciting….

Square One Jiu Jitsu Academy is officially an affiliate of Team Zenith, led by Professor !!!!!

This is a tremendous milestone for our academy, our students, and our future. To have the opportunity to learn under one of the most accomplished and respected figures in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an incredible honor, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Professor Robert Drysdale’s accomplishments include:

🥇 No-Gi World Champion
🥇 Pan American Champion
🥇 Brazilian National Champion
 💪🏼 Former MMA competitor, including the UFC

Just as important as his achievements on the mat is his dedication to preserving the history, tradition, and technical excellence of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. We are proud to continue our journey under his guidance and to bring that knowledge directly to our students here in Downtown Lee’s Summit.

⬛️⬛️🟥🟥⬛️ Grand Prix matches at our last Blue Corner event here in Kansas City a couple of weeks ago!!!

This type of gi grip and posturing offers superior control over the hips, easily creating openings for the pass or paths for chasing the back.
