Research shows over 83% of mental health advice on TikTok is wrong and misleading.
I personally witness, through quotes and screenshots brought in, how today's social media 'therapy culture' causes worry and harm.

Last day of summer school in our house. Early mornings with lots of extra child admin, tasks, and scheduling pressure.
Since I'm a licensed professional with 20+ years experience, I knew just what an understandably drained and overstimulated spouse might need: A laptop placed high out of reach playing a loud continuous (no ads) 10 hour soundtrack of flatulence noises.

I never expected parenthood would be sneaking a 'slow rise squishy butter stick' into my 5 yo's bed ceiling to surprise her with when she awakens...but here we are. 🤣👸🏼🧈

It's important to laugh at your history.
My own Dad, with his gold medal 🥇 curmudgeon status, was born in 1938...just 9 yo when The Great Depression began. This has impacted his whole lifetime.
Ever the one for a sale, when I was in 8th grade, my Dad nonchalantly mentioned he'd gotten us kids some soda at the store.
We were thrilled and amazed because we didn't get soda. Too expensive. Then, we paused. "Wait. What's wrong with it?!"
Dad, with his trademark famously 'surprised' face exclaimed: "Ack! WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'what's wrong with it?! I was just at the store and picked up some soda!"
We kids ran down to the basement pantry, sure there was a catch. And then we saw the catch. 24 pack of Diet Chocolate Shasta.
Daaaaaad!!!😡😧😡😧 DIET? CHOCOLATE? SHASTA?!? 🍫🥤
With (somehow) genuine astonishment, Dad exclaimed, WHAT!? But you loooooooooove soda!"
I exclaim "Yeah, real soda, NOT THIS!" 😧😡🥤
I assume we drank it...but I also know when I visited the house at age 23, newly married and now with my own home back in KC, there was still some Diet Chocolate Shasta in the basement fridge.
So, I took this one back to KC and I've literally kept it in the fridge for the last 23 years. Where I go, it goes. I once drove it, in a cooler bag, front seat of a 24 ft UHaul truck all the way to Maine when I moved there.
And best believe, EVERY time my Dad visits me no matter where I'm living, I offer it to him to drink.
Today, 6.18.26, we celebrate the 33rd birthday of it's expiration date. I thank you for sticking with me to the end of this story and I implore you to laugh at your own history once in a while. 👊🏻🍫🥤Cheers.
