๐Ÿ† California Classic National Championship Rankings #1

Presented by SemiPro GameDay

The road to the California Classic National Championship has officially begun.

With the regular season entering its most critical stretch, the first edition of the California Classic Rankings has arrived. These rankings determine which programs would earn a berth in the championship field if selections were made today.

The selection process evaluates teams using a comprehensive formula that includes overall record, wins against the Top 15 teams from both leagues, strength of schedule, head-to-head results, points scored, points allowed, and overall point differential.

As it stands, six teams have positioned themselves inside the championship field, while several talented contenders remain within striking distance. The #1 seed from each league will play for The California Classic National Championship.

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Current California Classic Field

CFU Automatic Qualifiers

1. Yolo Bearcats (8-0)

The Bearcats sit atop the rankings as the most dominant team in either league. With six Top 15 victories and signature wins over High Desert, the Central Valley Heat twice, and the West Coast Lions, Yolo has built an impressive rรฉsumรฉ. Their staggering +223 point differential speaks for itself.

2. High Desert Rams (8-1)
๐Ÿ”’ Clinched

The Rams have already punched their ticket to the California Classic. Their only setback came against the undefeated Bearcats, while four Top 15 victories and a +180 point differential have firmly established them as one of the premier programs in the West. With a win against the Yolo Bearcats, they will find themselves playing for The National Championship.

3. Central Valley Heat (6-3)

The Heat continue to separate themselves from the rest of the CFU pack. With two Top 15 wins and a battle-tested schedule, Central Valley currently holds the final CFU automatic berth and remains one of California's toughest teams.

CMFL Automatic Qualifiers

1. Tulsa Gators (6-0)

The Gators currently lead the CMFL field after a dominant undefeated start. Wins over the Joplin Crusaders and Oklahoma Bears headline a rรฉsumรฉ that includes three Top 15 victories and an impressive +162 point differential.

2. St. Joe Bucks (5-1)

No team in the CMFL may own a stronger overall body of work. The Bucks boast four Top 15 wins, including victories over the Oklahoma Bears, St. Louis Falcons, and Missouri Cyclones. Their ability to consistently win quality games has elevated them into championship position.

3. Joplin Crusaders (5-1)

The high octane CMFL powerhouse remains firmly in the field. Joplin's defense has been among the nation's best, allowing just 52 points all season while posting a remarkable +163 point differential. Their lone loss came against undefeated Tulsa.

๐Ÿšจ First Four Out / Next Up ๐Ÿšจ

West Coast Lions (5-4)

Despite their record, the Lions have faced one of the toughest schedules in California and remain the first team in line should a CFU spot become available.

NoTown Dogs (4-5)

The Dogs battled their way into the postseason and continue to hold their position as a respected contender within the CFU hierarchy.

Kansas City Panthers (5-1)

Perhaps the toughest omission from the field. The Panthers remain one of the nation's most talented teams and possess three Top 15 victories. Their championship aspirations remain very much alive.

St. Louis Falcons (5-1)

The Falcons continue to strengthen their case each week. A signature win over Kansas City highlights a rรฉsumรฉ that keeps them firmly in the California Classic conversation.

๐Ÿ The Race Is Just Beginning

While Yolo and High Desert have established themselves as the standard in the CFU, the CMFL race remains a week-to-week battle. With conference championships, playoff positioning, and championship berths all hanging in the balance, every game from this point forward carries massive implications.

The first rankings have been released, but the road to the California Classic National Championship is far from finished.

Two Leagues.

One Champion.

The best of the best still have everything to prove.

Coach Cโ€™s CMFL Power Poll โ€“ Week 7

Written by Coach C โ€“ SemiPro GameDay

Now that the smoke from Week 6 has cleared, the debate over who is number one in the Great Plains Division is over. Tulsa has all but locked up home-field advantage for the playoffs. But in The Gateway, that situation is far from over, and a misstep from any of our favorite teams going forward could be disastrous to their quest for the 13th CMFL Championship.

Week 7 looks to be an uneventful week outside of two games, but both have the potential to turn the poll and standings upside down once again. So, with that said, here are the rankings for Week 7.

1. Tulsa Gators

6-0 ๐Ÿ”ฅโœ…๏ธโฌ†๏ธ

After going down 20-7 heading into halftime, The Gators stormed back behind QB Kendall Holmes, WR Dylan Chinn, and The SWAT Team Defense to rally for a 27-22 win over in-state rivals, The Oklahoma Bears in The Sooner State Showdown. Tulsa Gators star LB Dalyan Poole started the comeback with a pick-six to the house.

2. St. Joe Bucks

5-1 ๐Ÿ”ฅโœ…๏ธโฌ†๏ธ

The Bucks cashed out in St. Louis once again with a win over The Missouri Cyclones in a tightly contested game, winning 26-21. Star DE Josh Lichter led The Program Killas with 13 tackles, 9 TFLs, and 2 sacks.

3. Joplin Crusaders

5-1 โ†”๏ธ

The Cru was idle this past weekend after a much-needed rest period for a team that has been decimated by injuries. The Crusaders will host the winless Oklahoma Hawks as a tune-up before "The Game."

4. St. Louis Falcons

5-1 ๐Ÿ”ฅโœ…๏ธโฌ†๏ธ

The Switch Boyz came into Kansas City and unloaded the clip again, pulling off the biggest upset of the weekend by defeating the previously ranked #1 Panthers at home.

QB Justin Baker threw for 6 TDs, including the game-winning dagger to another touchdown waiting to happen, Torre Chatman, with 5 seconds left on the clock. DeAndre Jones added another 7 catches for 123 yards and 2 TDs.

The Falcons are in the conversation for the number one seed in The Gateway but must first handle business in The Bird Bowl against The ECMO Eagles.

5. Kansas City Panthers

5-1 โœ…๏ธโฌ‡๏ธ

The Black Kat Defense turned into The Pink Panthers after allowing 44 points in a home loss to The Falcons by a score of 44-41, completely wasting a great offensive effort.

Is this a fluke or a sign of things to come?

WR Keevon Goode had two TDs in the shootout. The Panthers must refocus during their bye week, as a showdown in The Fountain City Classic looms.

6. Oklahoma Bears

4-2 โœ…๏ธโฌ‡๏ธ

The defending champs drop another one, this time to rival Tulsa Gators in The Sooner State Showdown.

Up 20-7 at halftime, the once-powerful Bears offense seemingly disappeared in the second half, only scoring a safety on defense. But they must put that all behind them and lock in for a tough Diamondbacks team this week before setting their sights on "The Game."

7. Missouri Cyclones

4-2 โœ…๏ธโฌ‡๏ธ

The Cyclones drop a tough one at home to The St. Joe Bucks in a 26-21 loss.

Stud DB Isaiah Holmes had a pick-six to the house, while star LB Turon Thomas had 13 tackles, 1 INT, and a safety. The Clones are scheduled to play winless Columbia this weekend.

8. Kansas City Bulldogs

4-2 โ†”๏ธ

The Bulldogs took care of business and kept their playoff hopes alive in an 18-6 win over The Eagles.

The Dawg Pound hit its first checkmark on the path to the playoffs, and now comes the tough part: preparing to upset #2 St. Joe on the road in a must-win game.

9. Wichita Skyhawks

3-3 โ†”๏ธ

The Skyhawks handled business on the road, defeating the Arkansas Warcats by a score of 34-14.

The Skyhawks have a great opportunity this weekend to shock the world as the undefeated Tulsa Gators come to town in what should be a very interesting matchup.

10. Kansas Diamondbacks

3-3 โ†”๏ธ

The Diamondbacks did what they were supposed to do this weekend, defeating the Oklahoma Hawks by a score of 20-3.

Kansas has an opportunity to possibly catch a reeling Oklahoma Bears team slipping in their matchup this weekend if the stars align in their favor.

Final Whistle

Although there are two weeks left in the regular season, it seems like everything from playoff seeding to league awards is up for grabs. This is the time when we will see who rises to the occasion.

This weekend could be the beginning of what will be a treacherous march to the playoffs.

Until next time, I'm out!

๐Ÿฅ‹ The Coach C Cat Daddy Report โ€“ Week 6: Separation Saturday ๐Ÿฅ‹

Written by Coach C โ€“ SemiPro GameDay

The weekend we've all been waiting for is here.

Week 5 was Stand On Business Saturday, and most of the true contenders did just that. Now, this Saturday, we have arrived at the point of no return.

Welcome to Separation Saturday, where the teams who are truly "like dat" will separate themselves from the pack and begin to solidify their playoff position. Who will stand up and claim what is rightfully theirs? Who will make the big mistake and wet the bed this week?

We shall find out!

Let's get to the games!!!

๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ

๐Ÿšจ Upset Alertโ€ผ๏ธโ€ผ๏ธโ€ผ๏ธ ๐Ÿšจ

#3 St. Joe Bucks
at
#6 Missouri Cyclones

This game is a rematch from last season, when the Bucks demolished a shorthanded Clones team. A lot of folks are expecting the same result.

BUT...

This is not the same Clones team.

The Cyclones have lost only one home game in the last four years, and that was with last season's shorthanded squad. Most teams haven't even hit double digits against this defense, and I think they'll be playing with a full squad in this one. The difference could be the play at linebacker, where stars Turon Thomas and AJ Christy will be a major factor.

The rent's due!

I'm taking the Clones in a low-scoring slugfest at home, where they pull away late.

๐Ÿ”ฎ 17-8 Cyclones

ECMO Eagles
at
#8 Kansas City Bulldogs

Some had this game circled as a potential Game of the Week during the offseason, and despite the circumstances, it should still be a great matchup if everything falls into place.

But reports for this one say the Birds will come light.

Yikes!

This one may get ugly.

I'm taking The Dawg Pound, and watch for Bulldog WRs Rondo Johnson and William Gowen to go crazy.

๐Ÿ”ฎ 34-6 Bulldogs

#10 Kansas Diamondbacks
at
Oklahoma Hawks

This one still feels like it could be lopsided. The Diamondback defense should be able to handle business as long as they don't turn the ball over on offense.

I'm still proud of the Hawks, who are young and taking their lumps. But give it time. They are showing up and have a commitment to doing things the right way.

Even then, the D-Backs take this one to keep their playoff hopes alive.

๐Ÿ”ฎ 28-6 Diamondbacks

#9 Wichita Skyhawks
at
Arkansas Warcats

I do not like this game for the Warcats at all. Not one bit.

They'll be facing a defensive unit that is among the best in the league, along with an offense led by QB Javonte Stewart and RB/LB Junie Jones that has juice at a lot of positions, especially at wide receiver.

Now, both teams could use some additional depth and could run out of gas late. But two-way star DL/OL Michael Spier and The Goons are going to be too much for a potentially shorthanded Warcats squad.

The Skyhawks take flight!

๐Ÿ”ฎ 34-8 Skyhawks

#7 St. Louis Falcons
at
#1 Kansas City Panthers

Whew...

40-18.

When they first told me the score, I didn't believe it. I felt like comedian Mojo Brookzz.

IKYFL...

I cannot get that score out of my mind for a team that is so talented and an organization that I know has it together.

This game against the Panthers is a rematch of last year's Gateway Conference Championship and possibly the biggest game in Falcons history. The more you look at it, the bigger the mountain becomes.

Playing the #1 team in the league at the House of Horrors, aka The Jungle.

And you know what happens there.

Playing against the best defense in the league.

Playing against the best secondary in the league.

Playing against what may be the best offensive line in the league.

If the Falcons come out like they did a few weeks ago, hang it up. It will be tough to recover from this loss. But a win would do some amazing things for this team.

The key is Brycen Cropp and that running game. It's a must that he gets busy. Or even Darrin Danielsโ€”give that man the football. The same goes for Malcom Johnson Jr.

And DeAndre Jones must be a factor.

But I just do not like the matchup in the trenches at all.

So with that said...

He say, she say, Kats 'bout to clinch The Gateway.

Panthers in Fo'!

๐Ÿ”ฎ 24-14 Panthers

โญ๏ธ CMFL National Game of the Week

"The Sooner State Showdown"

#4 Oklahoma Bears
at
#2 Tulsa Gators

Awww yes...

We have finally made it back to the big one, although both squads have taken much different paths to get here.

The undefeated Gators come in looking, once again, like the most talented team in the league. They are loaded at every position and have no real weaknesses.

That defensive line, led by The Godfather DeMarco Hubbard, Sir Henry Warner, Frankie Davis, and 2026 MVP candidate Lerenzo Fagan Jr., has terrorized every team they have faced so far, along with the rest of the SWAT Team Defense.

The Gator offense has a plug-and-play situation at quarterback with three legitimate threats, although I expect to see QB Kendall Holmes out there this Saturday.

If the Gators can rush for over 150 yards, limit turnovers, and simply avoid shooting themselves in the foot...

They should win this one by a possession.

Maybe more.

BUT NOT SO FAST, MY FRIEND!!!!

The Bears are looking like a more dangerous version of last year's championship team after that loss in St. Joe.

I don't think they're sleepwalking anymore.

They're coming for blood on every snap while getting back to having fun as a brotherhood.

The offensive line has done some mixing and matching, but it all starts with 2025 CMFL Lineman of the Year Paris Williams.

If the Bears come out with QB Devin White in this one, you know what's coming, and I think that would be the best way to negate the Gators' pass rush.

If they don't get too cute on offense and impose their will in the trenchesโ€”especially on defense behind star pass rusher Devin Colbert Sr., who is having an amazing year that isn't being talked about enoughโ€”the Bears should roll once again.

Interesting stat...

The series record is somewhere between 2-11 and 3-9 all-time in favor of The Bears. The Gators historically just do not beat this team.

And in the SPGD Era...

I have never seen the Gators beat the Bears.

So with that said...

GIMME MY COACH COX SHADES!!!

I'M TAKING THE UPSET!!!!

This is a prove-it game for the Gators, and we shall see.

I'm taking Da Bears.

๐Ÿ”ฎ 24-21 Bears (OT)

๐Ÿฅ‹๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ”ฅ THE SOONER STATE SHOWDOWN ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿฅ‹

#4 Oklahoma Bears (4-1) ๐Ÿ†š #2 Tulsa Gators (5-0)

Everything is bigger in Oklahoma... and this Saturday night, the spotlight belongs to two of the most decorated programs in the Central Midwest Football League.

The CMFL National Game of the Week takes us to The Swamp as the undefeated Tulsa Gators prepare to defend their home turf against their bitter rivals, the Oklahoma Bears, in another chapter of the legendary Sooner State Showdown.

Big Brother.

Little Brother.

Respect.

Disrespect.

History.

Pride.

Bragging Rights.

And potentially a Great Plains Division Championship hanging in the balance.

For years these two organizations have represented the standard of football in the Sooner State. Championships, All-Americans, MVPs, and unforgettable battles have defined this rivalry.

Now they meet once again with everything on the line.

Head Coach Kevin Cox and the Oklahoma Bears arrive in Inola at 4-1, looking every bit like The Gold Standard that has become synonymous with championship football.

Led by MVP candidate LT Paris Williams, the dynamic playmaking ability of 2025 SPGD All-American Daniel Knighten, and a veteran core from last season's championship team, the Bears are determined to remind everyone why they remain one of the most feared programs in the nation.

Standing in their way is an undefeated Tulsa Gators squad that many believe may be the most talented roster in the CMFL.

Head Coach Micah Robertson has assembled a powerhouse loaded with speed, athleticism, and confidence. The Gators are led by MVP candidate Lerenzo Fagan Jr., while reigning CMFL MVP Dylan Chinn continues to terrorize defenses as one of the most dangerous weapons in the nation.

One State.

Two Heavyweights.

One Massive Opportunity.

The winner takes a huge step toward claiming the Great Plains Division crown and strengthening their case as a legitimate CMFL Championship favorite.

Saturday Night.

Prime Time.

Lights Bright.

Pressure Higher.

And when these two rivals collide, expect fireworks from the opening kickoff until the final whistle.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ CMFL Memorial Day Weekend Announcement ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

As we pause for Memorial Day Weekend, the Central Midwest Football League proudly honors the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.
In observance of Memorial Day, the CMFL will have a league-wide bye week, and no games will be played on May 23rd.

This weekend provides an opportunity for our players, coaches, staff, families, and fans to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday and pay tribute to America's fallen heroes.

From all of us throughout the CMFL, thank you to those who gave everything for this country and to the families who carry their legacy forward.

โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™ We honor you today and every day.

Coach Cโ€™s CMFL Power Poll โ€“ Week 6

Separation Saturday is Coming!

Written by Coach C โ€“ SemiPro GameDay

Week 5 in the CMFL definitely had some shockers on Stand On Business Saturday, and a lot of teams did just that. Now, as we prepare for Separation Saturday, which could possibly determine seeding in the Great Plains and definitely lock things into place in the Gateway, the stakes are getting even higher.

1. Kansas City Panthers
5-0 ๐Ÿ”ฅโœ…๏ธโ†”๏ธ

The Panthers came away with a 16-9 win in an ugly game vs. the Missouri Cyclones.

Contrary to popular belief, DL Jordan Ragsdale blocked two kicks while the Black Kat Defense held the Clones to 128 total yards. The Panthers can all but wrap up the Gateway in their next game against the St. Louis Falcons.

Next: STL Falcons at home

2. Tulsa Gators
5-0 ๐Ÿฅ‹โ†”๏ธ

The Gators and the SWAT Team Defense posted another shutout on the season in a 40-0 thrashing of the Oklahoma Hawks.

QB/ATH/K Cunu Fields had 3 TDs (2 passing, 1 rushing) while totaling 200-plus all-purpose yards. Hopefully, some of their stars are rested up as the beginning of a three-game stretch that will make or break their playoff life starts with a home game against Big Brother in the Sooner State Showdown on May 30th.

Next: Oklahoma Bears at home

3. St. Joe Bucks
4-1 ๐Ÿ”ฅโœ…๏ธโ†”๏ธ

QB1 Mean Keante Green and the Bucks went down 12-0 on the road and stormed back in a smackdown of the St. Louis Falcons by a score of 40-18.

Green finished with 6 total touchdowns and over 350 total yards. Now their second trip to St. Louis could be the most dangerous yet, as an angry Cyclones team awaits them.

Next: Missouri Cyclones on the road

4. Oklahoma Bears
4-1 ๐Ÿฅ‹โฌ†๏ธ

The Standard is looking golden once again after a 74-0 BTA of the Arkansas Warcats.

2026 MVP candidate LT Paris Williams led the way with 300 rushing yards behind him and his vaunted offensive line, along with a rushing TD and a passed two-point conversion.

Now the big one in the Great Plains, a game that could determine home-field advantage, awaits as they take on Little Brother in the Sooner State Showdown.

Next: Tulsa Gators on the road

5. Joplin Crusaders
4-1 โœ…๏ธโ†”๏ธ

The Crusaders were in a dogfight with the Skyhawks before pulling away late in a 26-14 win.

DL Terry Lambert led the way on defense with 11 tackles, 8 TFLs, 4 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. QB Aason Cross threw for three TDs on the day.

The Crusaders get some much-needed time off and will not play again until June as the Hawks and rival Bears await them.

6. Missouri Cyclones
4-1 โœ…๏ธโฌ‡๏ธ

The Cyclones lost a tough one in the House of Horrors, aka The Jungle in Kansas City, 16-9 to the Panthers.

A great defensive effort was offset by a bad day at the office for a normally explosive offense. Star LB Turon Thomas recorded 15 tackles, 3 TFLs, and 1 pass defended, while stud DE Jullian Hollins had 8 tackles and 2 sacks.

They will have to put that all behind them now as what is essentially a must-win game against the surging St. Joe Bucks awaits them.

Next: St. Joe Bucks at home

7. St. Louis Falcons
4-1 ๐Ÿšฎโœ…๏ธโ†”๏ธ

The Switch Boyz are at a fork in the road that good teams eventually face.

Will they lay down like they did against the Bucks after going up 12-0 at home, or will they stand up and play up to their potential? I think it will be the latter as they prepare for the Panthers in what is now a must-win game for them.

8. Kansas City Bulldogs
3-2 โฌ†๏ธ

The Dawg Pound took care of business and kept their playoff hopes alive in a 28-6 win over the Columbia Vipers.

Star safety Starshine Harris-Palmer had a Pick 6 while recording 4 tackles and 2 sacks. The playoff hopes are still alive, but they cannot afford to go anything less than 2-1 in the final stretch.

9. Wichita Skyhawks
2-3 โœ…๏ธโฌ‡๏ธ

I have a different respect for the Panthers, Bears, and now the Crusaders because most teams would have folded like fresh laundry facing this Skyhawks team, which has some real-deal dudes on that roster.

After leading most of the game, the Skyhawks lost to the Crusaders 26-14 in a game that was much closer than the final score indicated. Star DT Jordan Riley forced a fumble that 2024 All-CMFL CB Chiante Stewart returned for a touchdown. Star two-way DE/OL Michael Spier had 3 sacks on the day, and DE Curtis Bent is a demon off the edge. DL Coach Tookay has these boys PLAYIN!

I donโ€™t know when... I donโ€™t know who... but somebody ranked above them is going to lose to this team.

Watch out!!!

10. Kansas Diamondbacks
โ†”๏ธ

The Diamondbacks were off this week as they prepare for their game against the Oklahoma Hawks.

All of a sudden, that final game of the season against their crosstown rival, the Skyhawks, has some real importance in the playoff picture. But a win on the 30th is a must to continue their path toward that.

๐ŸšจFinal Whistle

Stand On Business Saturday in Week 5 revealed a lot โ€” who is real, who is almost there, and who is all talk.

Week 6 could be a major redemption week for some of our favorite teams, who now have two weeks to prepare for what will be the most important weekend at this point in the season.

The CMFL will be off this weekend to celebrate Memorial Day. Thank you to all who served our great nation and for your sacrifice!

Thank you for your service loved ones!!!

Hope everyone enjoys their bye week!

Until Week 6, fellas!

Congratulations Jordan!

CMFL Player of the Week โ€“ DL Jordan Ragsdale

Written by Coach C โ€“ SemiPro GameDay

The Black Kats Defense has built a reputation for violence, discipline, and game-changing moments this season.

This past Saturday, Jordan Ragsdale made sure everybody remembered exactly why.

In a defensive slugfest between two CMFL heavyweights, one man completely shifted the momentum of the game every time the Missouri Cyclones looked ready to strike.

That man was Jordan Ragsdale.

Known around the league as โ€œThe Menace,โ€ the 6โ€™4โ€ defensive monster delivered one of the most impactful performances of the 2026 CMFL season in the Kansas City Panthersโ€™ gritty 16-9 victory over the #5 Missouri Cyclones.

And make no mistake about it......this wasnโ€™t just a good game.

This was a takeover.

Ragsdale finished the night with:
โœ…๏ธ5 Tackles
โœ…๏ธ1 Tackle For Loss
โœ…๏ธ1 Sack
โœ…๏ธ2 Blocked Kicks
Blocked Field Goal
Blocked Punt

That alone would have been enough to earn headlines. But the impact went even deeper than the stat sheet.

Every time The Cyclones attempted to find rhythm offensively, Ragsdale and the feared Black Kat Defense slammed the door shut. The Panthers defense held one of the CMFLโ€™s most explosive offenses to just 128 total yards in a game that felt physical from the opening whistle to the final snap.

The blocked field goal stole points.

The blocked punt stole momentum.

The sack crushed a crucial drive.

And the pressure he created all night forced the Cyclones into survival mode offensively.
Thatโ€™s what elite defensive linemen do.

They donโ€™t just make tackles.

They alter entire football games.

Ragsdaleโ€™s performance was the definition of championship football.....relentless effort, violent ex*****on, and clutch plays when his team needed them most.

The Panthers continue to establish themselves as one of the most dangerous teams in the CMFL, and performances like this are exactly why the Black Kats defense has become one of the most feared units in The CMFL.

This week, The Menace lived up to the name.

Congratulations to Jordan Ragsdale of the Kansas City Panthers โ€” your CMFL Player of the Week.
