Shout out to our Claude Moore Recreation & Community Center (CMRCC) Speed Cubing Club who competed alongside 150 participants in Loudoun County’s first-ever official World Cube Association event.

The competition, called Moore Cubes in Loudoun, was held at the center on Saturday.

CMRCC hosts a free Speed Cubing Club (aged 8-14), which meets on the second Saturday of each month during the school year. For more information visit loudoun.gov/PRCSConnect and search activity number #173710.

As part of the event, Sam Richard, a Facility Attendant at CRMCC and a Global Rubik’s Brand Ambassador, created a PRCS logo using 500 Rubik’s Cubes.

The Annual Fall Fest and Photo Expo at Claude Moore Park is happening now until 3:00pm.

This free family-friendly event invites visitors of all ages to explore a variety of handmade crafts from talented local artisans and admire the stunning entries in the Friends of Claude Moore Park’s 18th Annual Photo Expo.

Enjoy a day filled with fun activities including mini golf, a petting zoo, pumpkin painting (while supplies last), trampoline jumpers and a pre-K moon bounce, and much more.

Plus see live aquatic macroinvertebrates from the Claude Moore Park pond. See video in comments.

Admission and activities are free, and no registration is required. Food will be available for purchase.

Parking for the event is available from the Loudoun Park Lane entrance at the Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum, located at 21668 Heritage Farm Lane.

Hal and Berni Hanson Regional Park are open through Sunday, September 27, until 6:00pm. Splash pads are open daily from 12:00 to 6:00pm

The Claude Moore Recreation and Community Center gymnasium will be closed on Saturday, September 19, for an event. No drop‑in activities or fitness classes will be offered in the gym that day. All other facility programs and amenities will continue as scheduled.

During the closure, patrons seeking drop‑in gym access are encouraged to visit the Ashburn Recreation & Community Center or the Dulles South Recreation and Community Center. Visit loudoun.gov/RecCenters for drop-in gym schedule information.

Update:
Repairs of the mechanical issue at the Dulles South Recreation and Community Center leisure pool have been completed.

The leisure pool will reopen to patrons at 4:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, September 15.

The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) announces the temporary closure of the northside playground at Hal and Berni Hanson Regional Park for surface replacement and repairs as part of the playground’s maintenance warranty.

To ensure the safety of patrons, the playground will be closed beginning on or around Monday, September 21, 2026, and is anticipated to reopen on Friday, October 2, 2026. The public is asked to heed any construction fencing and signs placed on the property. The playground closure will not affect the operation of the splash pad at Hal and Berni Hanson Regional Park, which will remain open and close for the season at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 27.

During this time, park patrons are welcome to use the southside playground, which can be accessed from the south complex entrance.
