Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services

Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Since 1966, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) has endeavored to meet the needs of Loudoun residents for recreation, leisure and supportive programs that are diverse, accessible and affordable.

PRCS employees are committed to the belief that the effective delivery of park and recreation programs and supportive community services provides social, personal, economic and environmental benefits that last a lifetime.

PRCS reaches out to the community through a countywide system of facilities that includes trails, athletic fields, active and passive parks, open space, community, recreation and senior centers, playgrounds, sports complexes, a nature preserve, nature center, fine arts center, indoor and outdoor pools, historic/heritage sites, adult day centers, a catering kitchen facility and administrative offices. Some PRCS activities are also offered at school sites. Programs and services encompass facility planning and development, children’s programs (including licensed preschool, camps and after-school care), sports and recreation, community outreach, aging services, youth services, adaptive recreation, health and fitness, facility maintenance, customer service, and environmental stewardship.

Mission: Our mission is to provide outstanding recreational and leisure opportunities, outcome-focused community services, and stewardship of our natural resources to promote quality of life for Loudoun’s residents and visitors.

Congrats to our Dulles South Senior Center volunteers who know how to have fun while giving back to their community!

Congratulations to Dulles South Senior Center for winning the 2020 Outstanding Volunteer Senior Team Award!

The Dulles South Senior Center Dance Instructor Team provides free dance instruction every day in the form of 10 weekly dance classes in a range of dance styles including Bollywood Style, Classical Indian Dance, Country Line Dance, Hot Hula, and Fun Dance Fitness. The dance classes average between 175-200 participants per week from the Dulles South Senior Center improving the quality of life for participants. As an additional benefit, the instructor team has greatly reduced special event costs at Dulles South Senior Center, since paid entertainers usually charge at least $150 per program. “This is truly an exceptionally talented group of women who provide their talents freely to the membership at Dulles South Senior Center.” Patricia Mock

So proud of our YAC members! Your contributions are making a difference in #Loudoun County!

Congrats to the Youth Advisory Council for taking home the 2020 Outstanding Youth Volunteer Team Award!

Loudoun Youth Inc./Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a group of teen leaders creating programs that enhance the community such as Battle of the Bands competitions and supporting the Step Up Loudoun Youth Competition. YAC works closely with community, government, and business leaders to approve programs that enhance Loudoun County by supporting middle and high school students. They are also creating and coordinating the first Lights on Loudoun; an artist festival at the Northern Virginia Community College Loudoun Campus. Lights on Loudoun will allow teen and young adult artists a way to perform and share their works. “For many this seems to be a breath of fresh air away from the harsh restrictions of school projects and grades that hover over them. YAC programming is openly inclusive, mistakes and all.” Steve Wolfson

Thanks also to Dream Financial Planning for sponsoring this category and award!
