After one year of regular infrared sauna use at In2itive Fitness, I can confidently say that it has been a game-changer for my physical and mental health! ๐ฆ๐
Here are a few of the benefits I noticed along the wayโฆ
1๏ธโฃ Learning to calm my mind, and be present in the moment. Sitting alone in the sauna, with soothing, spa music was fundamental to my mental health and ability to balance running a bigger and significantly more expensive and complicated business, while raising and caring for my two young boys, in addition to our general busyness of a two-entrepreneur household. It helped. A LOT. ๐งโโ๏ธ๐ถ
2๏ธโฃ More defined muscles. ๐ช๐ช Iโm pretty sure I didnโt work out anymore or any less than I did in 2021, but I definitely noticed my muscle tone more. This is a known benefit of infrared sauna. And Iโm happy to report itโs true!
3๏ธโฃ Ability to handle stress. ๐ Just like exercise and cold exposure therapy, heat therapy is a positive stressor on the body. (Itโs called a hormedic stress or U stress.) So, by stressing your body on purpose, and using your mind to tell your nervous system that this is not going to harm you, you are preparing your body for the unknown and often more stressful situations real life can throw at you. 4๏ธโฃ It highlighted the benefits of (super easy) low-intensity โworkoutsโ- how? The bodyโs reaction to sitting in a sauna is very similar to participating in a low-intensity workout. Since I lift heavy and do some high-intensity training, I MUST not only prioritize rest days and recovery but also include low-intensity workouts on days in between. After the age of 40, women do not need MORE cortisol-inducing activities, especially with our naturally declining s*x hormones. That is a recipe for disaster. ๐คฏIncluding outdoor walking (in the elements, all of themโ๏ธ๐๐) and indoor sauna has filled in the gaps between my more heavy/intense workouts, to complete my own personal fitness and wellness routine. As a result, Iโve never felt better! ๐ถโโ๏ธ๐ฅ
5๏ธโฃ Moreover, the sauna has reaffirmed my knowledge that alone time and quiet time spark my creative juices. Some of my best writing has happened in my mind during sauna sessions, and when I take the time to put it on paper afterward, I've produced some of my best work.
