This sweet soul has had the same loving owner for many years. Unfortunately, life got extremely hard, and we got a text asking if we provided burial services.

This is a hot topic in the horse world, but I want to take a moment to correct ALL thoughts before things go sideways:

The owner WAS considering the right choice.

At 30 years old, some health issues, and with no true ability to care for the horse, this was a very valid option.

Choosing not to move the horse and disrupt its only known life at this age and risk it falling into bad hands provided euthanasia as a genuine option.

But HCC stepped in.

Having housed this horse before for events like hurricanes, this sweet soul is familiar with us and our property so we stepped in and said we would give it a try!

One month later, we are showing good improvements, and euthanasia is no longer on the table 💕🥰

As an organization founded on the beliefs we have, we are not here to condemn people: we are here to help them and their animals in their darkest and hardest moments.

No one took this lightly.
We were just glad we could ease burdens and provide life as an option.

This evening was Nalas first encounter with crossties and a saddle. She wins with flying colors!

Officially on market! Low 4🥕

Nala has been moving STRIDES!

She now picks up her feet and is working on lunging.

Her expected up for adoption date will be in roughly 2 weeks!
