Sixteen days into the new year, and you're probably questioning your ability to meet wellness & fitness goals you set for yourself - goals you probably shared with family, friends and foes. You're telling yourself starting a "new" training program (crossfit, weightlifting, Olympic training, yoga, pilates etc) will help attain these goals.

You may be right; but remember, 99.9% of people who've been able to sustain their wellness & fitness goals over years & decades, stuck to the basics. They repeated these basic fundamental exercises over & over again until they were bored & fed up; then, they kept repeating these exercises over & over again - occasionally spicing them up.

They're still doing it, while also, trying to make healthy meal choices.

1. The wall sit builds strength & endurance in the core, glutes, calves, quads, hamstrings & adductor muscles. It doesn't require a lot of space or any equipment.
2. Another exercise requiring minimal space, but stretches the middle back, rib cage & shoulder blade area is the wall twist. For great results, perform both exercises back 2 back (superset) with 30 to 45 secs break between sets, based on your fitness level.

There're many options to choose from when trying to stay healthy, fit etc. And for some of us who've chosen exercising as one of those options, there're days when we do "stupid [email protected]$t". Today, for me, was one of those days.

There comes a time in our lives when exercising isn't about one's physical appearance; rather, mobility, flexibility and stability - going up and down the STAIRS short of the expected physical wear and tear that comes with age. Being able to play with the grand munchkins....

Endomorph: Big, high body fat, often pear-shaped, with a high tendency to store body fat.

Mesomorph: Muscular and well-built, with a high metabolism and responsive muscle cells.

Some of the most neglected muscles in most exercise regimens are the rhomboid muscles. These muscles are located in the upper back, and help connect the shoulder blades to the rib cage and spine. They also help us maintain good posture.

One way to strengthen them is by using resistance bands. In case you decide to use weights, use light weights.

Not bad at all, for a 76 year old who wants to UP his tennis game again! - his passion sport.
