We are 24 hours away from the First Ever Kinchafoonee Poker Paddle Of Lee County!
We look forward to seeing each of you as you join us for a fun filled event. As you paddle down the creek tomorrow, take the time to enjoy the peacefulness of the Kinchafoonee. It is a beautiful waterway with much history. The blue hole is a natural spring and a wonder of nature. At the waterfall a grist mill once stood there to produce mill for food. The square cut out in the rocks once housed a water wheel that turned the mill and grinding stones. The land touching the falls once belonged to Chief Brosnan, a well known leader for the Albany Fire Department. He was a innovator of Fire Prevention in the 1940’s. This idea later came to the forefront of the the Fire Service in the early 1970’s. The house on the hill was built by Chief Brosnan and now belongs to his granddaughter, who currently resides on the property.
For this event to be successful, several landowners have given the Poker Paddle team permission to use their property for the dealer stops. We are thankful for their kindness and generosity. Please remember the land that touches the water belongs to someone. Walking and climbing on the waterfall is considered trespassing. It could also damage the falls and prevent others from enjoying her beauty. The land around the blue hole is also private property. Please show it the respect it deserves by taking any trash that you bring.
Enjoy your trip. Be safe. Have fun.
And Always Respect the Kinchafoonee!
We can't wait to here about your experiences when you get back to Sutton's
