11 years Ago today around 2015 my son Darien made it clear that his favorite MMA fighter was and will always be Frankie Edgar. Frankie Edgar. He’s 16 years old now and it hasn’t changed. He’s training Jui Jitsu and Boxing. He said he always liked the way Frankie trained Beckie his fights and also liked seeing him put it together at the fight. Darien was like 5 years old back then watching the fight camps with Frankie and I along with mark Henry and the Ricardo Almeida team and Renzo. A lot of fun times. a

Congratulations, Edson, on an incredible career and on the journey you’ve taken all of us on.

It has truly been an honor to have been a small part of your story—to work with you, train with you, push you, and watch you grow into the man, father, athlete, and warrior you are today. Thank you for believing in me and trusting me enough to allow me to share part of this journey with you. Those are memories I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I’ll always remember the countless training sessions, the hard rounds, the sparring sessions, the laughs, the struggles, and all the moments behind the scenes that people never got to see. Those are the stories I’ll continue telling for years to come.

You have always been more than just a great fighter. You are a great person, a loyal friend, and one of the truest warriors I have ever had the privilege of knowing.

You are a warrior in the cage and a Samurai at heart. God bless brother on your new journey of life.
