"Men do not attract that which they want, but that which they are."
— James Allen, As a Man Thinketh

Allen's line is an old-fashioned way of saying your results have a dress code. Clients who pay well tend to find people who act like they're worth paying well, and opportunities tend to find people who show up consistently enough to be found. You can want those things all day long, but who you become is what sends the invitation.

"Act now. There is never any time but now, and there never will be any time but now."
— Wallace D. Wattles, The Science of Getting Rich

Somewhere in your phone is a list of people you meant to follow up with. Wattles would not have liked that list. Now is the only time anything actually gets done, which means "I'll call them next week" is usually a polite way of saying "I won't." Pick three names from that list and send three texts today. Most of them will be glad you did.

"Change your conception of yourself and you will automatically change the world in which you live."
— Neville Goddard, The Power of Awareness

Try this for a week: make every business decision as the owner of a company twice your size. Would that person still do their own bookkeeping at midnight? Answer inquiries three days late? Charge what you charge? You don't need the bigger company to borrow its standards, and Goddard would say borrowing them is how you get there.

"You act, and feel, not according to what things are really like, but according to the image your mind holds of what they are like."
— Maxwell Maltz, Psycho-Cybernetics

If you secretly think of yourself as "not a salesperson," you'll find a hundred clever ways to avoid selling (reorganizing your desktop counts). Maltz's point is that the feeling is a report on the image you're carrying, not on the situation in front of you. Change the image and selling starts to feel like what it actually is, which is helping someone make a decision.

"Men do not attract that which they want, but that which they are."
— James Allen, As a Man Thinketh

Try a slightly uncomfortable audit. Look at your last thirty days of customers, calls and opportunities. That list is a fairly honest portrait of who you've been lately, which is less flattering than a list of what you want. The good news is that Allen's idea runs in both directions. Become more organized, more consistent and more willing to ask for the business, and the next thirty days will start to look different.

"Act now. There is never any time but now, and there never will be any time but now."
— Wallace D. Wattles, The Science of Getting Rich

Wattles wrote this in 1910, which means people have been putting things off until Monday for at least 116 years. Every great plan you have lives in one of two places: the future, where nothing happens, or right now, where everything does. Pick the one thing you've been "about to do" all week and do it before dinner.

"Change your conception of yourself and you will automatically change the world in which you live."
— Neville Goddard, The Power of Awareness

Most entrepreneurs try to fix the world first (more leads, better clients, a bigger market) and figure they'll feel like the real deal once all that shows up. Goddard flips the order. Decide who you are first and let the decisions follow. Someone who sees themselves as a serious business owner tends to answer the phone, send the proposal and raise the price. Try it for one week and see what moves.

"You act, and feel, not according to what things are really like, but according to the image your mind holds of what they are like."
— Maxwell Maltz, Psycho-Cybernetics

Maltz was a plastic surgeon who noticed something odd: some patients got a new face and still saw the old one in the mirror. Business owners do the same thing.

You can land bigger clients and still price, talk and plan like the scrappy version of you from five years ago. Update the picture in your head, because your behavior is reading from it.

"Men do not attract that which they want, but that which they ARE."
— James Allen, As a Man Thinketh

James Allen wrote that in 1903, long before anybody had a vision board app (or notebook, or whatever you're supposed to use).

If you're like me, a shortage of ideas is not the problem. Building out a system that turns my ideas into reality, and a consistent reality at that, is the true prize.

The Renegade CRM is the best system I've personally ever used for this very thing. And truthfully, you're seeing this post that actually scheduled and posted by Renegade CRM...

A confession from everyone who has ever owned a CRM: the notes never get entered. The moment worth recording happens in the truck, in a parking lot, or walking out of a client's kitchen, and nobody is thumb-typing a paragraph into an app at a red light. (Please don't.)

Renegade CRM now lets you just talk to it. Open the mobile app, tap the mic, and ask. The assistant answers out loud, you can cut it off mid-sentence like a normal conversation, and the whole exchange lands as text afterward so nothing gets lost. It even keeps working with the app minimized and a headset in.

It's a small feature with a big idea behind it: software should fit the way you actually work. If you've been meaning to "update the CRM later," later just got a lot shorter.

What's the first thing you'd ask your CRM out loud?
