Let’s talk about it… ⚠️ super vulnerable post and to be honest I don’t care if it gets many views because I’m posting this as part of my healing journey. But LETS TALK ABOUT IT👇🏻
Let’s talk about the bodies women are somehow expected to have
Because I feel like we’ve been given this impossible checklist.
We’re supposed to be thin—but have curves.
A tiny waist—but a big butt.
Lean—but not too lean.
Strong—but still look feminine.
No cellulite.
No stretch marks.
No loose skin.
No aging.
And somehow we’re expected to look like this naturally, all the time.
But here’s the thing…
A lot of the bodies we’re comparing ourselves to aren’t even representative of what a normal, everyday woman’s body looks like.
There’s genetics.
There’s posing.
Lighting.
Angles.
Clothing.
Editing.
Cosmetic procedures.
And sometimes there’s an entire team behind the image we’re looking at.
And then we look at our own body in completely normal lighting, from a completely normal angle, and wonder,
“Why don’t I look like that?” This is something I’m trying to rewire in my brain
Maybe the problem isn’t your body.
Maybe the standard is unrealistic.
And I’m not saying you can’t have goals for your body. You absolutely can.
I’m saying I don’t want us to spend our entire lives believing that we’re failing because we don’t look like an image that was never a realistic expectation in the first place.
Your body doesn’t have to look like someone else’s body to be beautiful.
And you don’t have to spend your entire life trying to earn the right to feel comfortable in your own.
Let’s talk about it.
What’s one body expectation you think women are unfairly held to?
