Woman. You matter. đź©·
Yesterday was World Heart Day.
That day has never been on my radar.
I didn’t know it was a thing.
This year, it definitely caught my attention for obvious reasons.
I did the healthy things. I have done them my entire adult life. I still had a heart attack.
The human heart carries more than blood.
It carries:
-Grief
-Loss
-Betrayal
-The cruelty & carelessness of others
-The things we swallow instead of say.
It carries the weight of things we think we should carry simply because we are strong enough. But we really should have put them down a long time ago.
The heart carries the burden of things we fix even though we didn’t break them.
My heart attack was ultimately diagnosed as MINOCA.
**Myocardial Infarction (or Injury) with non obstructive coronary arteries**
As a result of ……
Broken Heart Syndrome (Takotsubo Syndrome) a very real cardiac condition that can be triggered by severe emotional stress. The distress can be sudden or accumulated over time.
My heart muscle is damaged even though I am “in perfect health”. It has been 8 weeks & I am still not back to 100% capacity. It’s frustrating. It’s humbling. It’s disorienting.
Yes, move your body. Eat beautiful, nourishing food.Build strength.Sleep.
Take ownership of your health.
But the bigger challenge is protecting your peace.
Pay attention to what makes your heart race.
Stop normalizing relationships that keep your nervous system feeling “off” or in full blown survival mode.
-Set your boundaries.
-Leave the room when respect is not being offered.
-Grieve what needs to be grieved.
-Let yourself feel joy without scanning to ensure it’s safe.
-Stop asking for permission to do what’s best for you.
Please stop assuming that because a woman looks strong, healthy and capable, her heart isn’t carrying something heavy.
And if you’re the type of person who takes pleasure in or advantage of another’s vulnerability-go get some therapy or just get off the planet. You are literally planting seeds of disease.
Caring for my heart isn’t about becoming fragile. It’s about becoming fiercely protective of the life and people my heart is beating for.
I have devoted myself to guiding women to take ownership of their wellness.
The message is now loud and clear that what or who has access to us can be as deadly as a sedentary lifestyle, junk food, smoking & alcohol.
I’m probably not going to shut up about that for a long time.
Women. I hope you will join me in calling our power back to our incredible hearts♥️🫀❤️‍🩹In the comments, in my studio or spirit. We can offer healing to each other that is more powerful than anything. Together we can alchemize the pain that rocks our world into love, beauty & a little badassery.
Onward✨
