𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐃𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲!

Did you know Dolly Parton has a special connection to the Tennessee Walking Horse industry?

While filming the musical comedy Rhinestone with Sylvester Stallone in the fall of 1983, portions of the movie were shot in Leipers Fork, Tennessee. During filming, the Tennessee Film Commission contacted J.W. Cross III of Franklin, Tennessee, to arrange a day for the stars to experience Tennessee Walking Horses.

Mr. Cross and his daughter, Amy, brought one of their pleasure horses to Bryant Fly's barn in Franklin, where Dolly posed for the photo featured. She rode the horse Mr. Cross had brought for the occasion, while Sylvester Stallone rode THE PUSHOVER, a talented four-year-old fresh off a reserve finish in the Junior World Grand Championship with Bryant Fly.

THE PUSHOVER's story was just getting started. Seven years later, as an 11-year-old, he and Ronnie Spears captured the 1990 Tennessee Walking Horse World Grand Championship title.

From one Tennessee icon to another, we're proud to celebrate this fun connection between Dolly Parton and the Tennessee Walking Horse on her day, 9/25!

Congratulations to the winners of the Thorsport Versatility Challenge!

ThorSport Versatility Cup is a new award program designed to recognize competitors who demonstrate excellence across multiple performance disciplines. This program encourages competitors to broaden their participation, enhance their horsemanship and showmanship skills, and pursue success across a variety of classes. Competitors earn points in both Adult and Youth divisions in Showmanship, Equitation, Western Riding, and Reining for their chance to earn part of the $12,000 offered in this program! Points were earned at the WHOA International Grand Championships, TWHBEA World Versatility Championships, and NWHA Nationals.

Voting is now open for the 2027 International Board of Directors election and a proposed amendment to the association’s bylaws.

Ballots were emailed to current voting members on September 15, 2026. Because electronic ballots are distributed through a third-party provider, some emails may be filtered into junk or spam folders. Members who have not yet seen their ballot are encouraged to check those folders and search for emails received on September 15.

All eligible voting members have until 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 to cast their ballots.

Members who previously opted out of electronic voting were mailed paper ballots on September 15, 2026. Those ballots must be returned in the provided envelope and received by October 15, 2026, to be counted.
