At Legends Sports Bar & Grill, our dishwashers are a vital part of our success. A clean, organized kitchen allows our entire team to deliver an exceptional guest experience. This position also offers the opportunity to cross-train in food prep and on the cook line for those looking to grow with us.

**Position Requirements:**
✔ Available to work evenings until **11:30 PM**
✔ Weekend availability is required
✔ Reliable transportation
✔ Strong work ethic and attention to detail
✔ Able to work independently while supporting a team

**Hours:** Approximately **25–35 hours per week** *(adjust if needed).*

Timika is the poster child for what a strong work ethic looks like at Legends.

For nearly 13 years, Timika has been part of the Legends family. She was here during our very first year, supported us thru Covid and other up and down times. I can honestly say that much of what Legends has become is because of dedicated team members like her.

Her commitment never changes. Whether it's a quiet afternoon or a slammed shift, Timika brings the same consistency, positive attitude, and attention to detail.

On slower days, she doesn't wait to be told what needs to be done. Recently, I watched her deep cleaning our refrigeration units. No one asked her to do it. No one reminded her. She simply saw something that needed attention and took ownership. That's the kind of work ethic you can't teach.

She supports Legends by training new team members whenever she's called upon, and her regular guests continue to come back because they know they'll receive exceptional service. She shows up on time, follows our systems, and quietly leads by example.

Before a plate ever reaches a guest, Timika takes a moment to make sure it represents the quality we stand for. If something doesn't look its best, she respectfully asks the kitchen to make an adjustment. She isn't being critical, she cares deeply about the guest experience and wants our kitchen's hard work to be showcased at its best. That mutual respect between the front and back of the house is what great teams are built on.

You'll find Timika behind the bar every Wednesday and Thursday and serving guests every Friday in the dining room and pool service. If you've had the pleasure of being one of her guests over the past 13 years, you already know exactly what I'm talking about.

What’s for dinner?

Every morning, John walks into our kitchen carrying more than 30 years of experience with him.

I enjoy watching the way he prepares the kitchen for the day.

Each prep station is sanitized again. Not because he assumes the closing crew failed, but because experience has taught him not to leave important details to chance. His clean apron goes on, his special knives are placed where they belong, and he begins setting the kitchen up for success.

John handles the core of our daily prep. From our house-made mac and cheese sauce to the gravy that smothers our poutine, his work becomes part of so many meals served throughout the day.

Even the smallest details matter. The way produce is cleaned, cut, and prepared sets the stage for fresh salads, pizza toppings, and consistency throughout the kitchen.

That is what more than 30 years of experience looks like.

Recently, I overheard John mention that he had received an invitation to join another company. His response was simple:

“My loyalty is with Melinda and Legends at this time. I believe in what we are building here.”

That meant more to me than he probably realizes.

Not simply because he chose to stay, but because he sees the vision.

It would certainly be easier to operate a kitchen filled entirely with people who have John’s experience. But if restaurants only hired experienced professionals, where would the next generation ever begin?

We also have young employees entering the kitchen for the first time, including graduates of high school culinary programs. They arrive with education and potential, but still need someone to teach them how a real kitchen moves.

They need to learn timing, consistency, food builds, communication, urgency, and how every item on a ticket must come together at the right moment.

That process requires patience and commitment from our leaders. Training can mean more questions, extra corrections, and sometimes slower ticket times while someone learns. It is not always the easiest path, but it is how the next John is developed.

Restaurants need both, the experienced professionals who protect the standards and the new employees who represent the future of the industry.

John, thank you for the skill, loyalty, and attention to detail you bring to Legends every day. Most importantly, thank you for believing in what we are building here.

The other day, I received a message from a guest who felt ignored during their visit.

I do not take comments like that lightly.

Hospitality is about making every guest feel welcomed, noticed, and appreciated. Sometimes we get it right, and sometimes we fall short. When someone takes the time to tell me about their experience, I am grateful because it gives us the opportunity to listen, coach, and improve.

I recently had a similar experience while dining out. After waiting nearly 15 minutes to be greeted, the server apologized and said she had been distracted while spending time with her coworkers.

It reminded me that great hospitality does not happen because of the building, the menu, or the number of employees scheduled. It happens because of people who are personally committed to providing excellent service.

Today, I want to recognize one of those people.

I truly believe Hanah is a major reason our lunch sales have increased. Whether she has two guests or 102 guests, that gal does not miss a step. She notices people, welcomes them, keeps moving, and makes sure our guests are cared for.

Hanah does not need to be reminded that hospitality matters. She understands that every guest who walks through our doors is making a choice to spend their time and money with us and she treats that choice with respect.

Every staffing decision we make affects how long a guest stays, whether they return, and how they talk about Legends after they leave. I do not take that responsibility lightly.

To the guests who provide honest feedback, thank you. You help us become better.

And Hanah, thank you for showing what genuine hospitality looks like. Your consistency, energy, and commitment are making a real difference at Legends, and it has not gone unnoticed. We appreciate you!
