On October 11, St. Mary’s and Bates College are teaming up for a 5K Run/Walk and Kids Obstacle Course. The event is aptly named Steps for Hope. Our collective goal is to raise funds to expand the spaces available for behavioral health hospitalization and bring awareness to the mental health crises affecting our youth and adults from our community and every corner of Maine.

On October 15, we will gather for our 10th annual Commit to Get Fit Challenge at Simard Payne Memorial Park in Lewiston!

After the 5K run, join us for this SOUPer new part of our event – a Harvest Walk. Free for runners and community members alike, the St. Mary’s Nutrition Center is excited to invite you to “Walk the Neighborhood” with us!

Registered walkers will receive a complimentary tote bag and Tuscan Farro Soup recipe at Simard Payne Memorial Park before heading out on a route that will lead you through downtown Lewiston on a pre-determined route. Walkers will collect an ingredient for their soup at each of the following community partners on the route: Trinity Jubilee Center, St. Mary’s B Street Clinic, Heart & Soil Community Garden, the Root Cellar, Tree Street Youth, Pine Street Garden, Community Credit Union, the proposed L-A Community Market, and the Lewiston Farmer’s Market.

Start your day by running or walking the 5K Route at 8:30 AM. After the race, visit the Simard Payne Memorial Park food tent and enjoy the oatmeal bar, fruit, and other energy foods plus we will have many vendors on site, including bounce houses provided by the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA!

At 10 AM the Harvest Walk kicks off! Start by getting your free tote bag, soup recipe, and map at the Simard Payne Memorial Park registration table. Begin at the park and follow the route with stops at our community partners. Each partner will provide a fresh ingredient for your soup recipe! Volunteers will guide the way.

Please note: Although there is no cost to participate in the Harvest Walk, you must register to participate!
