It destroys trust, distorts intimacy, fuels secrecy and shame, and is quietly devastating individuals, marriages, families, and churches.

As part of our Reliance Men program, Taun Allman is teaching a class for men AND women who want to better understand po*******hy and learn how to walk alongside a friend or loved one who is struggling.

Without connection to people, it's almost impossible to step away from any form of unhealthy reward/regulation. Connectedness counters the pull of addictive behaviors. It turns out that the most powerful form of reward is relationships. -Dr. Bruce Perry in "What Happened to You?"

The answer to shame is relationship. When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, they hid, they blamed, they covered up. AKA Isolation, Isolation, Isolation.
What did God do? He asked, "Where are you?" "What have you done?" "Have you eaten?" "Who told you?"
God pursued them even when they felt shame and were trying to isolate. He wanted to connect with them.
The same is true for us today. We are wired to be in relationship with God and safe people.

When sin entered the world, Adam and Eve hid from God, they blamed each other and they covered up. AKA Isolation, Isolation, Isolation. Our natural inclination is to go to isolation when things get difficult. The opposite of addiction is not sobriety, its connection. P**n addiction by definition is an "attachment based intimacy disorder." The opposite that is connection. Relationships need intimacy. AKA "In to me you see" conversations. They take work and don't come natural.
