Tonight Saturday Night Sept 10th the WOO Extreme Outlaw Sprint Car Series will invade the high banks of the Spoon River Speedway. While the series hasn’t seen action since the inaugural St. Louis Firecracker faceoff at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 IN LATE June, it has seen a list of five different winners in the first six races and presents drivers with a chance at a sixth and seventh different winner this weekend.
Among those five victors is current points leader Shane Cockrum, who prepares for the first series races in his home state, maintaining a 47-point lead over Alex Bright, West Westfall sits third, 60-points out of first place, while Mario Clouser (-107) and Jake Swanson (-116) complete the top-five at the halfway point in the chase for the inaugural season championship.
Both races will be run in conjunction with POWRI WAR Sprint Car League, bringing racers and championship chasers from both series to both Jacksonville and Spoon River for an all-out Non-Wing Sprint Car brawl in the Land of Lincoln.
Also running will be the Dirtcar Modifieds which will be running the fifth out of six Challenge races. In the four previous races there has been four different winners. Will there be a fifth different winner? Currently Dave Weitholder holds the top spot over Tyler Nicely 9 points back. Josh Allen holds the third spot (-12), with Brandon Roberts (-14) and Mark Anderson (-17) rounding out the top five. Sixth on back to tenth has Mike Brooks (-22), Cole Falloway (-25), Allen Weisser (-34) and Mike McKinney and Lucas Lee (-40).
