Jita Kyoei Dojo

s come from Kano Jigoro-Shihan who developed Judo in the late 1800’s. One of the ideologies that our club has adopted is, “the smallest person must be able to successfully apply the techniques to the largest person.”

Our practice is governed by modern and proven educational principles, allowing the student to acquire the skills needed for their own defense. Other training procedures prepare one for real world situations, whether attacks by hand or from weapons, and can also apply to our daily interactions in life. Instructor info: Bill Parker-Sensei is the head instructor and has over 50 years of experience. He holds 6th degree black belts in both Judo and in Jiyushinkai Aikibudo, and also holds a 4th degree black belt in Heike-ryu Jiu Jitsu from Vincent Tamura-Sensei (his family’s style of Japanese Jiu Jitsu)

We trace lineage back through Kenji Tomiki, who brought a very strong judo influence to his aikibudo, as well as Kano Jigoro-Shihan (Founder of Kodokan Judo) & Mifune Kyuzo-Sensei (10th dan Judo, Kano-Shihan’s top pupil) who mastered the waza of kuzushi & ukemi (destabilizing structure and receiving energy).
