Did you know that one-third of your yoga practice is breath?
It's true! The practice of yoga consists of breath work, meditation and movement; it is the discipline of yoking your movement with your breath.
In Scripture, we see two words for "breath" —
1. Pneuma: Counselor breath (ie: the Holy Spirit)
2. Ruach: Creator breath (ie: God breathed life into creation)
Incorporating breath work into our practice holds great power when practiced with intention — the power to receive counsel through the Holy Spirit (pneuma) and the power to create life (ruach).
You see, when our hearts begin to settle before the Lord in meditation, it is through the breath work that the head (intellect) meets with the heart (will).
And it is through our soul's connection to His Spirit that these systems in our body can be trained and renewed.
