Isaac Murphy Bike Club
Kids! Bikes! Legacy Trail! This project is the vision of Frank X Walker.
Other goals of the Isaac Murphy Bike club are:
• to build artistic bike racks at the William Wells Brown Elementary School and the Lexington Traditional Middle School
• to recruit organizational sponsors to sponsor a monthly ride
• to link youth with bike repair educators such as Broke Spoke to learn about bike care and maintenance
• to create a bike warehouse to accept donations of bikes

The exhibit will also consist of various objects unearthed during an archaeological dig in June 2011 at the Isaac Murphy homesite and historical signs describing the contributions of African-Americans to the Thoroughbred Industry. The five participating artists are Garry R. Bibbs of Lexington, KY, Neal Bociek of San Diego, CA, Willis “Bing” Davis of Dayton, OH, Stacey Farley of Garrison, NY, and LaVon Williams of Lexington, KY.

the Isaac Murphy Bike Club is hosting its next adult ride and membership drive at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30. Interested riders are to meet at the Legacy Trail by the Loudon YMCA. New members will be provided with shirts at registration.

The Isaac Murphy Bike Club had its first bike giveaway to East End kids - 25 new bikes to those who learned bike safety, laws, and techniques over the summer. Now, we'll begin on round two: we don't want to stop until every kid who wants a bike has one. Please join us!

Great bike event with East End kids at Charles Young Today - we do the first Isaac Murphy Bike Club bike giveaway to deserving kids on August 20 - stay tuned. Let us know if you want to help!
Great first event for the bike club - over 25 kids came out to learn about safety, get some physical activity, and eat a healthy lunch. These kids will now be eligible to receive a free bike kit later in the summer as well as participate in the inaugural Bike Club ride in September. Next event is July 19 - stay tuned.
